Halo Reach Server is unavailable at this time please try again later
Basically here in New Zealand there are a bunch of us all in separate houses and different parts of the Country that Cannot play reach this started since the 3rd and there is a large group of us that cant get on
we see this message “Halo Reach Server is unavailable at this time please try again later” all the time!!! we also cant see our own ranks and have default armor and are default color
This all Started since the 3rd near the title update
and this is beyond annoying as we all love to play Match making
Also i Can play other games online in MatchMaking fine like Modern Warfare 2(Yes i know lame but it’s all i got atm)
and We can play custom games with people on our friends list also, so its not a connection issue for our ISP
Called our ISP and they are as thick as bricks denying it all
we have all tried the basic trouble shooting steps
firstly
Reset router
checked NAT type (Mine is Open)
checked port triggering/forwarding
recovered gamer tags
and everything under the xbox live support forums.
I even called them today and they can’t help us
This is not a good impression on the new owners behalf
this all coincided with the Title Update and if this keeps happening I’m just gonna sell all my halo games because its not worth playing anymore
I’m one of those New Zealanders and I can confirm that this is a Genuine problem. As Mukz said all the obvious fixes do nothing to help. I’ve been in contact with the Xbox support people and they cannot say what is wrong, nor can they offer a solution to the problem. They seem to have gone quiet.
I can play other games fine, played Black Ops the other day, but Halo Reach just says server unavailable and it has said this for two weeks. Pretty peeved that I haven’t even been able to try the beta hoppers yet. I tried playing Halo 3 but it also tells me that the servers are unreachable. To me this strongly suggests that something is wrong with the servers, not my connection nor xbox live in general.
I’d like to get some feedback/attention from the people who run the servers on what’s going on and whether or not they are aware of any problems cause there is definitely something wrong somewhere and it doesn’t look like it’s on this end. Someone who can help please pay attention, loyal New Zealand fans are going without their daily Halo dose.
I have the exact same problem It works at my mums so I took the exact same xbox to my house after resetting router and modem and still nothing. plus my mum is completely computer illiterate runs her internet 24/7 without reseting anything so there is no way I’m the one doing something wrong. Does anyone know why this is??
P.S My ISP is Slingshot,

You’re a legend Mukz. I PM’ed Spongy asking to add his voice to the xbox support forum, although my guess now is that the problem is with slingshot, especially if the same xbox works on vodafone and not slingshot.

If you have any friends on Xbox live who use Slingshot get them to post on this thread here if they have any Reach issue and get them too call Slingshot and get Force Slingshot to Escalate the issue

Correct, I’m with a company called ‘snap!’ Does Slingshot have any idea why it is happening?

Never heard of snap before. I called Slingshot a couple days ago and they said they were unaware of any problems, but I’m gonna call them again.

I have the same problem and I am also with slingshot. My connection isn’t as good as it used to be on other games either. Dam you Slingshot and your all you can eat plan that was so tempting but is now annoying.
Call them and keep hassling them no matter what also tell all of your Xbox Live Friends on Reach and that will get enough numbers to sort this issue out
I understand it is frustrating but if they don’t fix it you will not be able to play anniversary either assuming they use the same networking style
Please post back here if your having the same issue and make sure you cakll sling shot everyday if not every second day and tell everyone

Or, you know NZ passed that stupid piracy law right? Theyve probably classified XBL as bittorrent by mistake and are clamping it down. Its happened before.

I’m having the same problem up here in HK as well. Everything was fine then -BAM- one day matchmaking just stopped (about 1.5weeks ago). “Halo Reach Servers unavailable”. Stats are gone and basic armor. Everything else fine though, Xbox Live works and I can play non-matchmaking games online with friends.
I’ve just had a brand new Gigabit Fibre installed to my home (about a month ago… intitially it had issues but has been working fine with Halo for the last few weeks). If I take my Xbox to a friend who has DSL with the same company it works. If I take it to another friend who has Fiber with the same company, the same problem occurs. Hell… if I turn my smartphone into a wireless hotspot and log in through that it works!.. just not PCCW’s fiber.
My ISP has suggested that the Halo Reach servers are blocking the new or certain IP addresses. Either that or some kind of routing issue I reckon. Sounds like the same issues you guys are having with your ISP down in NZ. Either way the ISP has said they can do no more until they get more information from the Halo server guys (343 I’m guessing) but unfortunately I’ve been unable to find any kind of customer support contacts for 343 (at least Bungie provided a customer support email address). Anyone have the server IP range or a contact for 343?
I live in NZ too. Haven’t experienced this problem. Sometimes Xbox Live is temporarily down. Sometimes it’s the Halo Reach servers. Or your ISP could be experiencing temporary problems. My ISP is Telecom. During matchmaking, I’m more paired up with NZ and Australian players than I am with US, UK, and other players - which is great.
dude its becuase we are the only country who has crap broadband everyone else is hogging it to them selves. i get the same problems and when it actually works its terrible lag not once have i had a perfect connection game.
