Some warzone firefight tactics to ease the pain

yes we all know, firefight is a pain, it’s too hard, yes this is still very much is.

the spawns, the bulky enemies, the bum rushing, the absurd boss life, etc.

But it’s not impossible

Some may not know but there are some minor things you can do to increase your chances, some stuff that may have been easily passed up.

in fact much of it is just common sense to help a team rather than focus on the individual score, the sooner you realize score doesn’t matter, the faster you will win.

  • Use a boltshot or suppressor on early rounds vs promethians. It may seem absurd, why trade your assault rifle for a suppressor, well here is why, it rips through their armor faster, on both the soldiers and knights, yes it is weak but the faster you rip off that armor, the quicker another ally or you could get a headshot on that jerk. - Be the guy to use a plasma pistol, it will help everyone on vehicle bosses save for the mechs grunts. - Dont run your friends over, don’t be a jerk, you need all hands up for the final round - Wait for a round before taking a REQ, nothing is worse than taking a tank on Sanctum and having wardens in the tower with you unable to help, be patient, unless it’s something with access like a wasp or generally expendable like ghost or hog, don’t worry. - REQ 3 is all you need to succeed, battle rifles can do fine anywhere and hogs are useful too, speaking of which, - use a hog as a mobile sentry, you don’t need to charge in, use the gauss hog with this as well, even a basic chain gun hog on a final round as a far away sentry helps. Just be ready to move when you must. - Dont just take a hog user for a drive in regards to the last one, if they can keep nailing a boss far away, it’s better to not interfere. - Warden has easy reads, he will glow before firing the beam that also emps vehicles, so find a way to tuck in and back off, likewise when he throws his hands up. Get behind anything, it’s the gravity bomb, you can stagger him while he does this to prevent it. - Don’t clog up the road with tanks, ghosts can be very useful with their smaller frames and hit a lot more than expected. - as its common sense, don’t funnel in one path or stay still, try to break away from the pack and look for a flanking opportunity, one hunter from behind goes down much faster, getting its attention for the other six is a bigger deal than slaying it yourself. - the Knights are hard because you are not hitting their glowly spots, take them down, knight can be headshot. - be aware of your surroundings, don’t just rush in, no one likes coming back to life only to die, sometimes this cannot be helped in the current state sadly. - Scavenge if you are scared to lose reqs, no one likes losing neat tank or weapon as they spawn. - dont get greedy, know when to run. - if you cannot decide on an armor mod, just use increased shields, staying alive longer is more important than individual glory. - Remember. Every Req is a risk reward. Be prepared to lose it, follow your best judgement. - it may be advanced thinking, but consider these factors, elevation, line of sight, etc. the sooner you understand these, the better you can get your enemies. Example: driving a scorpian, you have a horizontal line of sight, hills can screw with your aim, wraths on the other hand, can attack indirectly, if a low area of cover allows, bomb the foes from above, not directly, likewise stay behind the scorpions and mantis, they were made for direct attacks. - Protect your armor and air support, they will win, not ground on foot alone. - Communitacte, remain calm, you will get stuff eventually, the game will change. - Don’t quit, you will only make it worse for others and yourself, the mode doesn’t equal your stats as good or bad, the sooner you abandon the “me me my kills mentality” you will win .TL,DR: Play smarter, not harder.

Fantastic write-up. I hope this helps some people out.

Yeah, I survived two whole rounds with this tactic.

When engaging multiple bosses make sure all eight spartans in game are firing at one boss to make them die off quicker.

The basic needler works well on soldiers and elites. I pick up the ones they drop and use it in the first couple of rounds.
I will bring in a Scouthog to plow through enemies on some maps. Doesn’t always work but in some open areas where there are a lot you can run them over easily. 2 more players ininn the extra seats helps clear up stragglers.
The Wheelman mod is another one to think about having come the final round.
The plasma castor has worked good for the wardens in the temple but only if everyone works on the soldiers and crawlers. And always take out the watchers!
As mentioned above the plasma pistol really helps with ariel vehicles, especially pheatons.

This is a very simple one, aim for the head

I notice many people shooting elites, grunts, jackals etc in the body when their head is exposed to one shot…makes no sense to me, so thought I’d add this,

Good tips and advice. Many players don’t seem to know that the little white lights on each side of the Knights armor is the weak spot. Hit them and the armor drops off then get in a few head shots and he’s dead. The me,me,me things has got to go in this game mode. What does it matter if you kill 100 crawlers to get on the top of the score board and lose the game. The objective is to win and play as a team. I’d rather be the one on the bottom of the score board that pulled out the Scorpion on round 5 to get the win. Pull the reqs wisely…

Also during those early rounds when you’re tasked with taking out ghost squadrons or Banshee Raiders and most people are only REQ level 2 or 3. Kinetic knock-back weapons that do more damage to vehicles really helps. Having a few guys with plasma pistols disabling and then the rest with kinetic weapons focusing down a single ghost or banshee at a time is good teamwork.

These are all great tips! I would add, when there are multiple bosses, attack the one that your teammates are already working on. Splitting forces between different bosses is a sure way to run out of time and lose.

Use a ghost to splatter the covenants and prometheans at their spawning points. It works very well! Except for the knights and the hunters… Don’t rush to them with a vehicle if you want to survive! Just stay far away and target them from distance… Does anybody know how to destroy the mantis on Attack on Sanctum? They have shields and health regeneration. I don’t know how to kill them!

I cannot recommend scout warthogs for the first and sometimes second round enough! Just brutal for splatters haha running them down is often much faster than shooting just be careful of not killing team mates

Well written strategies and tips! Thanks for looking out for players. Hopefully people read this!

I brought in a Hannibal Scorpion and blasted them away pretty good. Thats not something I would bring in every match but I decided to actually try the one I had.
The needler Warthog is another one to bring in for that. That works best if there are a few hitting it with kinetic weapons to distract it and keep shields from regenerating.
Boarding them might be another option, I died before I could get to it last time so that might not work out.

This strategy works well on the Spec Ops Elites in Sanctum. See how easy it is to take them out HERE.
The point boost is a nice bonus too.

Thanks for the tips. I still don’t have the Hannibal scorpion but I’ll try my best next time with an other req variant! I don’t think it’s possible to board them. I was able to reach their back a pair of times but nothing appeared on screen!

Just a few tips…
One of the problems that lead to failure is the flying Promethean aircraft. And all I see is Spartans running back and forth reloading… so if you don’t want too get a req weapon. Just put two battle rifles In the slots that way when one runs out of ammo you don’t waste time running back too many times.
Pipap on the beach is a difficult one. Need tanks to flank on either side to stand any chance.

Awesome dude. I struggle with what armor mod to use ever time:P

Great tips. Using promethean weapons against prometheans and covenant weapons against covies is the best way to go. But WZFF isn’t too hard.

What’s the best way to take on bosses that spawn in the Bases (Where the core is)? Nearly every game I played last night failed because we had to fight the hunters or the wardens in there, and vehicles were less than useful. Advice?

I tried it and it is really effective, especially when you are tier 1 or 2 and can’t spawn in a BR
