Some questions regarding imminent Steam Workshop support

Farn said it’s in the upcoming patch, before Christmas week.

I’ve heard about Steam Workshop over the years but never made time to try it out because as a noob I sort of assumed mods are often a big hassle. Have now tried it with Left 4 Dead 2 and WOW. What a fantastic feature/tool and so easy to use.

I’m really excited now for the MCC Workshop. Here are some questions I have:

  1. Are there any limitations on what a Workshop mod can be/do?

  2. I’m assuming mods can only be applied to the anti-cheat free version, meaning you can’t then go into matchmaking with mods, which I approve of. But is there any downside to this like can you still play campaign coop, Firefight and CGB on the no anti-cheat version? Being able to do these things with mods is important.

  3. Can worthwhile cream of the crop mods be cherry picked and officially implemented into MCC on both PC and console? Such as bug fixes, maps(which don’t replace existing maps), Forge props, cosmetics, avatars, nameplates, Forge & Theater tools overhaul…

  4. For Left 4 Dead 2 there’s a bunch of copyrighted material imported, you can play as Master Chief for example. So I’m assuming nobody cares which is awesome. Just to be clear, does this mean someone will be able to make things like Halo Kart and Smash Halo Ultimate???

  1. You can read the documentation - link: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/halo-master-chief-collection/

  2. I am not confident on CGB with EAC disabled. Hopefully someone else can comment, but for the rest yes you can do this and you’ll find videos of it easily.

  3. This one is almost definitely not happening. 343 won’t even rotate forge maps into the weekly playlist rotations, there’s no way a community driven mod is being “officially implemented”.

  4. I suggest looking at mods that already exist.
