At the end of spartan ops in halo 4 Halsey leaves with Jul m’dama and has half of the janus key given to her by the Librarian which would give humanity access to ALOT of forerunner tech. Then she tells Jul that she wants revenge against the UNSC. So what happened to the whole janus key story and halsey wanting revenge against the UNSC?

In the beginning of halo 2 anniversary we see a cutscene with Locke and the Arbiter on what I guess to be one of the Arbiter’s ships… Locke tells the Arbiter that he’s hunting down Master Chief, which the Arbiter up until this point has been unaware of. Also in that scene is a handful of other spartan IV’s accompanying Locke. My question is: where does this scene fit in in halo 5? When Locke meets up with the Arbiter on Sanghelios he starts to tell the Arbiter about his mission and the Arbiter is quick to inform Locke that he knows all about his mission to hunt down Chief. I had assumed that halo 2 anniversary scene would fit into halo 5 during the mission where Locke and his team assault the last Covenant stronghold with the Arbiter’s forces. In the actual scene the only spartans are Locke and the rest of fireteam osiris, not just some random group of spartans. And the Arbiter already knows about Locke hunting Chief down…so why is that original scene even in halo 2 annniversary?

Also, the question that is on everyone’s minds: what happened to this game’s story? I’m talking about the MAJOR difference between the game’s commercials and the actual game itself. Let’s start with the hunt the truth ads. Chief was apparently doing all these crazy things in hunt the truth and going all rogue (by himself, didn’t mention his blue team buddies being with him) and the unsc was trying to find him. Like he had been disobeying orders for months but in the game it seemed like it was just a week or so. I remember one of the hunt the truth audio logs said Chief killed members of the insurrection to save some Elites and a human ambassador, and he did this on his own without the UNSC ordering him to do this which made it seem that he had been rogue for a couple of months. Then there was the ad that was released like 2 weeks before the game came out with the UNSC telling the public that Master Chief was dead, when in reality he was still alive and was going from colony to colony and apparently “setting off” these cataclysmic events while Locke was hunting him down. This wasn’t really executed that well in the game…there was no mention of the public being told Chief was dead and it seemed like him and blue team only went to like one colony where an event was set off. Then there was the very first trailer where chief is wearing a cloak and is walking through a desert holding Cortana’s data chip in his hand, this didn’t happen at all. Then there was the trailers where Chief is pointing a gun at Locke or Locke is pointing a gun at Chief while they are both in front of a statue of Chief while the infinity is on fire in the background. Never saw either one of these in the game…Locke was all against Chief for barely half of the game then for the second half he was just trying to help Chief…didn’t seem like there was that much of a hunt…SOOOOOO what happened to the story? Was the marketing team not on the same page as the writing team for the game? Because it seems like there was a MAJOR lack of communication between the two. Or was halo 5’s story erased halfway through and almost completely remade like what happened to destiny?

Why has 343 not put the brutes in their games and why haven’t they shown Lord Hood at all? Isn’t he supposed to be the most important person in the UNSC (besides Master Chief of course)
-
Was it really necessary to play as fireteam osiris for the majority of the game? Blue team only got 3 missions…
I would like to know about this too, the trailers got me so hyped for the story, and none of them were related to it.
The Campaign was an absolute implosion.
i agree, campaign story was a real let down. Apparently, videogamers are supposed to start reading comics and listen to a radio blog to be able to understand the main story !!! Videogames are meant as a different entertainement/ art form to live and experience the story…not complement it.
the game in general is awesome, not denying that…but the story, is getting to confusing with not much explanation in the cutscenes etc…
plz, release some kind of dlc that will add missions to explain the missing plot points ( whatever is covered in the comics or that radio blog thingy ), kinda like spartan ops ( just not to many repetitive missions, plz ) . ill pay for that .

They created all this extra story material for their game’s story…and then they don’t even try to connect it all. What’s the point of even making it if you don’t use it? Now the story is just all over the place…let’s just reset 343’s story back to halo 4.
- Halsey temporarily took down infinity and recovers both pieces of the key in the comic as for revenge we don’t know who she wants it for. shes even with palmer after the pelican crash but i think she knows it was oni and more specifically Osman who ordered the hit on her - they didint have the final diesign for osiris back then as buck was a swap and thorn was originally in the team and supposed to get new armor like Osiris dose the scene it self may not be shown but it was a long trip down to the surfic and if you notice the scene of them exiting is similar so they might have rescripted the convo after adding buck. - think about it we are looking at the short run these trailers and hints are for alot more then one game they embassy was holding nigotiations with elites on a UEG planet (UNSC) that couldent happen with the civil unrest on sanghilios being instigated by oni but in gardieans we end the war leaving the remaining swords on good terms with the UNSC under this joint strike op the peace talk and all that happen in HTT could be happing later on in the next few games and chief may be stoic but he still wants cortana back she only took what she needed there are still plenty of dormant gardieans that trailer could come at the end of this whole saga. note that chief dosent have a wepoen they have been playing with the idea of a halo with no guns or more likely less conventional weapons or more alternatives chief has evolved with the imprint of the isodidact all that force power stuff also they said long before the game came out that the desert trailer was not halo 5. - the brute are making piece with humanity and lord hood is probably going dark in the public eye as more colonies reinstate governments and his planes with osmen to genocide the elites fell through with the end of the civil war - you are right on this one

So many questions and so many sad answers. I wish they would have explained more information in Halo 5 and actually have it feel like Halo 5 was continuing the narrative, rather than throwing a wrench in everything that they set up in H4. Those are just a few complaints though; otherwise I thought the game was great. The missions were challenging and engaging and I enjoyed myself.

It’s almost like 343 gave us a blank book and asked to connect the dots, which is quite difficult since there’s no points to connect

I had no idea that the comics existed. I liked the storyline with the janus key and halsey wanting revenge, kinda wish that it was halo 5’s main plot.
-
They should just remake that scene for halo 2 anniversary. It would be less confusing
-
So your saying that the trailers 343 released to hype up halo 5 may not be specifically for halo 5? Well that’s just great. So hunt the truth does not take place before halo 5? The ads and trailers were so cool, I just feel as though they should have been more clear on what the actual story of halo 5’s campaign would be. If what your saying is true about the trailers not being about halo 5 specifically then don’t you think it would have been better if they made trailers that were actually about halo 5’s story?
-
Did the UNSC return most of its power and authority back to the UEG? Since the war with covenant is over
I know it may sound like I didn’t like halo 5, but I really did. I just feel as though they wasted the story they had built up with 4’s campaign and spartan ops. Didn’t they kill the ur-didact off in one of the newer books? Sure wish he was back…thought he was a great antagonist. Cortana as the villain…still can’t get used to the idea. And here I thought we were actually going to have a halo game where chief wouldn’t have cortana. I know the majority of halo 3 was chief without cortana, but she showed up at the end. Talking about an entire campaign, no cortana. Because the focus should now be on chief going back to how things were when it was just him and blue team without having to think about or focus on cortana
The Ur-Didact was Composed, which means his physical form was obliterated and he became a digital form.

So he could return? As what? A mindless promethean knight? Wait didn’t it say in one of the halo 4 terminal videos that his physical form could not be composed?

I don’t think there’s any specific lore on what happens when a biological form is Composed, other than that it’s the method that is used to create Soldiers, Knights, etc and that any biological being that is Composed is stored in the Composer’s Abyss. But, no, his physical form is not protected from the effects of being Composed. If it ever was, it was before he experimented on himself and caused his body’s mutations.
Edit: And, yes, while he did experiment on himself to give himself immunity to being composed, in HALO: Escalation, that’s the fate that he suffers.

I’ve never read halo escalation but someone mentioned (over at the bungie.net forums) that in escalation more than one composer was activated and used on the didact. Is this true? Because I remember in one of the halo 4 terminals that because of how the didact had changed his physical form that the composer would be unable to compose him. So I guess now it just takes more than one to get the job done?
