Just wanted to throw out there, I know there are some issues with the game (and i certainly agree, there’s problems with radar, progression, friendly fire, collisions, etc.) but there is a lot of negative comments going around and I wanted to say my piece that 343 is still doing great work, and I think the devs deserve some praise for it.
This game is already very fun and I know this is just the beginning. The development team is doing an outstanding job interacting with the community and are demonstrating that they are willing to listen to community feedback. I trust that they will continue to do so and I think it’s important to spread some positive impressions on the game, as well as the constructive feedback.
As such, here’s some things I love about this game so far…
- Map design: really like both the aesthetic and mechanical style of the map design so far
- IFF Coloring: Definitely helps with visibility and is a great feature; hope to see even mroe done with this in the future
- Weapon balancing: I know some people don’t like the AR’s power (which I strongly disagree with), but nonetheless the overall balancing is pretty great. It’s a difficult thing to make every weapon useful AND fun, but I think, except for maybe the plasma pistol, I have found every weapon in the game to be worthwhile and fun to use
- Mark System: being able to ping in Halo is something my friends and I have talked about for years; finally seeing it here is great and I hope they continue making the mark system bigger and better
- 12v12 BTB: I really like 12v12 instead of 8v8, I think it works very well
- Academy: While not something I would’ve asked for in a Halo game, I think the Academy is actually pretty cool. Weapon Drills are a fun little side thing and training mode is great for figuring out controls and weapons and such.
- Vehicles independent parts damage: I think this has been underrated. I think it could really use better visual cues, particularly when a vehicles is about to explode, and that has made people forget how cool this actually is. I really like that they took the time to add this.
And the biggest one - Sound Design: Following Halo’s 4 and 5, which were almost universally criticized for their sound design, this game turned things way around and has some of the best sound design in the series. I adore the various FX and I love the music included thus far. I’m so excited to here more music when the full game releases!
