Some people praising doom...

I have seen here on waypoint that some people praise doom and comparing it because it is doing “well”( some anti-sprint people use it as an argument), maybe at launch but right now it sits at number 46 on xbox most popular games. Halo right now is at number 15. (Even more people are playing the buggy MCC), so I think that saying that doom it is doing ok is no longer acceptable

I thought it was doing better than halo. Guess I was wrong

IMO, they’re both great games, but DOOM wins in nearly every aspect, especially story.

Because console players like arena shooters.

Anyway, on steam, the multiplayer was hated on. Want to know why? It’s because of the modernization of the gameplay. Loadouts and double jump killed the game for so many fans. Kind of like halo.

The campaign, on the other hand, was very well received.

Never said it was bad, played the beta and liked it, but it seems that it became very stale( I think that is the word)

Well correct me if I am wrong but most popular doesn’t go by server population as most played did when they showed that. I am not sure what criteria most popular goes by.

At least halo survived (:

Well, then it is more popular

I liked DOOM at first, but as you said, the multiplayer got very stale, there wasn’t much in terms of variety and it got boring pretty quick. The campaign was awesome though. I always come back to Halo because there’s just so much going on that no game ever feels the same, which is good.

Well this isnt entirely a halo topic I’ll play along.

People don’t like the new DOOM multiplayer since its modernized instead of what DOOM multiplayer is expected to be. The rest of the game is a reboot done justice that stays true to the “DOOM feel” as the devs describe it. It’s a good story but while it’s happening in the background the player could care less since its a game about brutal murder. It also pays so much respect to the original and it’s fans. For example. unlike 343 ID was willing to scrap 3-4 years of work on DOOM 4 and decided to make a reboot for the series since it was more of a call of doom and didn’t have the DOOM feel.

Some people that say H5 had time constraints don’t realize though that they had the same amount of time as any other halo. Bungie had to scrap an entire year of work on H2 because the engine didn’t work on the Xbox. Then what did we end up with? One of the best halo games ever.

Also DOOM is the game that spear headed the fps genre so if there was no DOOM there would be no halo cod destiny ECT.

I know I have a tendency to go on tangents… sorry about that.

Doom has one thing halo doesn’t…the beautiful voice of Samuel Hayden

Some one told me it goes by the rating people gave it. So you can’t really say for sure who is playing what game more.

Well everytime people say something about population they link it to the page of most popular games, also halo 5 got some very bad ratings on everywhere

They are both pretty different IMO. still DOOM was so much fun in a very different way that Halo 5 is to me.

On a side note, did anyone see Angry Joes review for Doom? xD his outfit at the beginning!

Yep lol. It was a nice and short one since there wasn’t much wrong with the game… unlike his H5 review… it was 39 minutes.

I enjoy Doom, even it’s multiplayer. It feels like Unreal/Quake, despite the loadouts. I especially love the Translocator-esque device. It’s so fun slipping between a demon’s fingers or being chased by someone then warping behind them for the kill.

Me too dude, beta was fun, just pointing that is no longer an argument (my post)

DOOM’s MP got a bad wrap early on by it’s HARDCORE fans. The game is great and far better then Halo 5 the problem is that it left it’s MP fans in the dust by modernization. It’s a different community playing that game so they expect different things, it has little to do with the game being bad. Hell, just saying bad and DOOM in the same context makes me want to purge a bit of my own existence.

Halo certainly can take some foot notes from DOOM as well as DOOM from Halo.

Respect your elders and guide your young…but then again Halo isn’t the new kid on the block anymore. If anything Halo is the successor to DOOM.

Also OP we can’t forget that Halo 5 not only released a massive and free content update but is also no charge for people who want to play the game until July 5th. That’ll certainly add numbers in someones favor on making another game look bad, regardless of what you’re talking about.

That is because they aren’t smart enough to realize most popular is different than the most played. They took down the most played list for some reason.

I only played the beta, and the multiplayer wasn’t to my liking. I still like Halo 5 a lot better. The demo for the campaign was cool though so I may buy that and only play the campaign.
