Some People Just Don't Get It

What I don’t like in Halo Matchmaking are people who noobtube and ruin the game for others. I mean, maybe the situation is rather dire a rocket is the last option, OK.
But kids who run around with a charged plasma pistol, ready the whip out their DMRs when the beam hit’s, and then go on to call themselves good is what I really hate. Then they go on to say " Oh, as long as it gets me the kill" or “If it’s working for me why don’t you just use it”, or “It’s part of the game”
As I said before, if the situation is dire, or maybe your a noob(as in you’re new to the game), by all means charge that thing and start popping heads, but seeing Heroes using a noob combo just looks pathetic.
Personally, I usually try to avoid this “noob-tubing/noob combo” (other than Elite Slayer’s “Zealot” loadout) But some people just don’t get that playing the game isn’t completely about you, and other people don’t enjoy being overcharged and headshot from behind - it’s such a rat move.

Has anyone else ever experienced this? What do you think about it?

EDIT*

Alright guys, thanks for your feedback, but it looks like I’m beat here.
Maybe the noob combo is a legitimate tactic after all.
Okay seriously now, how do I lock this topic? I said I get it, the noob combo is a legitimate part of Halo, stop flaming me

Kill or be killed anyway you can, if you died, the other person was the better player in that scenario.

If they are “noobs” and you got beat by them, what does that make you?

the only weapon i don’t like but have learned to deal with is the energy sword. Also a player who can survive the battlefield with a charged plasma pistol and not die deserves that kill, seriously its like a bright green light that says “hello i want to die”. lol reminds how good the plasma is.

QFT

> But some people just don’t get that playing the game isn’t completely about you,

You noticed that too?!

I use whatever works by any means necessary to win.

In Halo I play like a renegade would in the Mass Effect series. Any means necessary to get the job done.

It was a noob combo in Halo 2 (with the BR) thanks to the super forgiving netcode that made the plasma charge hit 120% of the time, and would give the host the headshot before you even knew they shot the PP.

In Reach, who cares? It’s not remotely overpowered since I’m pretty sure the draw times are longer and the PP charge isn’t nearly as clingy.

I call the noob combo a legit tactic, and I think the plasma pistol’s charge is pretty darn easy to dodge at anything other than melee range

> I call the noob combo a legit tactic, and I think the plasma pistol’s charge in Reach is pretty darn easy to dodge at anything other than melee range, because its shot tracks a good amount, but travels ridiculously slowly. If you know you’re enemy is shooting at you, it’s really easy to outmaneuver the plasma pistol’s shot.

Everything short of cheating is a legitimate tactic, like it or not. Some of these “tactics” are mind-bogglingly cheap, others border at being outright unfair (e.g. the opposing team actually playing as a team compared to you and the three random guys in your team), and others are only plain annoying.

DAAAAAAAAAAYUM.

There literally is no comeback/excuse for that. Might as well close the thread. O_o

That’s how noobs get their kills, noob combos or noobtubes. I don’t think you get it either, cause that’s something that those people say too.
I’m not saying that I don’t get killed by them, heck that what the whole topic is about.
Im saying that doing things like that just doesn’t make the game fun for other people. The only way to counter it is to bunnyhop around, hoping they don’t land a headshot on you while you mince down their shields.
I don’t know about you, but I don’t like it. . .

I play Halo Reach to perform to my best ability(I play to win), I use what ever I can to do that.

This, albeit nooby, its the dominant strategy and that makes you bad for not using it.

Now fair/skillful is another argument, you should have more of a problem with the gameplay functions than peoples actions.

By “Noob-Tube” you mean Rockets not GL right? Because the latter is hard to use at some ranges. The Rockets are meant to be a weapon that you pick up and use the ammo for. Your not encouraged to save it since the other team can take it.

I do find the Rockets an unfair death out of my control though. I wish forgers would think of ways to balance a map without many power weapons (Zealot being a good example) instead of automatically dropping Rockets and a Sniper on it. We need more maps like Zealot.

As for the so called “Noob-Comboing,” the enemy had to hunt for the spawn didn’t they? It is really not too different from picking up a DMR in an AR start gametype, sitting crouching in a corner, and saying you’re good, as there is almost no way for the enemies to live. So is the DMR noobish? No. It’s fair game to me (Although 4 shots to break shields might be a better balance for the Plasma Pistol).

Honestly I would even worry about it! Just hit the avoid button at the end of the game! Players are gonna use whatever is easiest for them to get a kill! I don’t use the PP/DMR combo never have and never will! I personally prefer DMR duels but thats just me!

> That’s how noobs get their kills, noob combos or noobtubes.

You forgot, double melee, camping, spamming, power weapon hogging, sword/shotgun sprinting, AL pop and locking and I could go on, but you get the idea.

> I don’t think you get it either, cause that’s something that those people say too.

I not only get it, I use them, all of them, as much as possible. After three decades of gaming I have developed very little capitulation about deploying every dirty, low down dastardly cheep method of dispatching my foes, while living to fight another round. A battle hardened vet if you will, those that dont fall like ash at the feet of those that will.

> I’m not saying that I don’t get killed by them, heck that what the whole topic is about.

That point did not escape me, thats why I asked “If they are noobs and beat you, what does that make you?” Noob food? (trademarked)

> Im saying that doing things like that just doesn’t make the game fun for other people.

It was fun for them, especially if you rage, you only make it all the sweeter.

> The only way to counter it is to bunnyhop around, hoping they don’t land a headshot on you while you mince down their shields.

I would suggest stealth and situational awareness as a counter and if all else fails, a rocket launcher should do the trick.

I dont like dying at all, no matter the way it is delivered, but when I do, I know that I was bested and I tip my hat to this person (and then try and go find his punk YOINK! and exact a bloody revenge with a side of Tea, if you know what I mean)

Holding an overcharge’ll drain a Plasma Pistol in… twenty? thirty? seconds. If they’re running around with it already charged, they are quite literally doing it wrong. :\
