I know this sounds like whining but hear me out I feel like the pistol is a minor bit overpowered and needs a slight damage need at least at close range so far it outguns brs at almost any range and ars at close I have done it myself when going for the commendation for the magnum and also been killed plenty of times by it I feel like a slight adjustment should be done so far it’s pretty much only thing people use until they find a power weapon it gets a little overboard
Nerf SMG, buff Assault Rifle.

Seriously? The AR is already strong enough. I agree the smg is overpowered but so is the AR.
this isnt the destiny forums
crying for weapon nerfs only work there

I disagree they are both pretty well oriente the smg is not a starting weapon on arena and requires u to be req level 4 to use also anywhere from med range up the damage starts to dwindle
The pistol takes skill to use and the only way you can win with it is to land every single shot. if you miss one you are gone (if the enemy lands his AR without missing that is)
The MAGNUM does not outgun the BR at any range, maybe to an un-skilled or new player.
Anyone who’s been playing Halo long enough or knows what they are doing will take down some randy running around with his magnum out (pun intended), will get slaughtered. I will personally 4 shot the poor kid. The Magnum is perfect the way it is, it’s 5 shots. The BR is not a standard starter weapon anymore, it needs to be how it is. However, the magnum is a starter weapon now.
Also, the the random kids saying the SMG, AR, or any other weapon needs nerfed, buffed…whatever, take a break. Please.
The weapons are fine, I’m under the assumption that most of you have little coordination when it comes to Halo. My guess is you’re probably that kid who runs in a bee-line spraying his AR, dies, then whines about it. The SMG is powerful at close range, yeah, it’s a level 4 REQ and a pick up weapon on maps. The AR is good for it’s purpose, CLOSE RANGE, again…my argument stands with all of the little randoms spraying and praying their ARs at 50 foot length against someone with a BR.
Ok, why does everyone think this is Destiny? I’ve never seen two “nerf this stuff” threads at the top. Don’t even think about bringing Gjallahorn into this. The weapons are balanced near perfectly IMO.
This is ridiculous and I’m so tired of seeing this. Nothing in this game really needs a buff or nerf. For a while I actually thought the scattershot needed a nerf, but then I just realized I was sucking with it. I modified how I play with it, and now I magically feel like it’s a fantastic gun!
Work at the guns that you feel like are underpowered. And if you feel like the magnum is OP, for example, then it’s likely the weapon you typically use when facing the magnum (probably the AR) is one you need to work at improving with. Everyone does this. It’s the infamous self-serving attributional bias. Look it up.

But…but…Mr. Honeybadger, that’s too hard to do. How on Earth could I ever even fathom changing?

The SMG shreds at really close ranges, but AR can outgun it at medium range

Ikr. This isn’t the unbalanced mess that Destiny is. Everything is fine where it is.

True player right their. If more people had that since right their. People automatically assume it’s the gun or the game, no halo 5 has PERFECT gun balance, the problem is the person holding the sticks.
Weapons are all well balanced. Each weapon serves a specific function and works well in the role. No gun dominates at every range and just because they excel in their set roles doesn’t make them OP.
It just seems like people aren’t used to being able to get kills with anything except for the BR and DMR, so now with the good balance in Halo 5 (All weapons are actually useful), some people feel the need to cry that some weapons are OP…

Good job man. I’ve seen how bad those forums are and these forums are already bad enough without all of that crap we see floating around the Destiny forums.

If you have read my full post I have said I was on the receiving and giving end of this I played both sides and when I used the pistol also I felt a imbalance I feel like for a weapon everyone starts with its just a tad more powerful than its role is supposed to be
I like the pistol as is, I don’t think any weapon really needs any adjustments.
What needs nerfing?..try the Hydra since that thing auto-locks on anything and takes no skill. Try dodging that when it has homing missiles that track you which is ridiculous. In games like BTB I try my best to get it so nobody else can use it since it’s heavily unbalanced weapon. They should at least keep it to vehicles only for lock-ons…really annoying trying to kill them when there using it since normal go for perfect kills usually in BTB.
Another thing that doesn’t to be nerfed is War-zone in general because that mode is completely unbalanced due to the REQ system, it should have been weapons/vehicles pick up only at a limit…instead we have infinite snipers spam, ridiculous amount of players using tanks…which brings me to another point…the spawns are awful where I’ve seen plenty of games where spawn-killing is frequent and vehicles can’t get out of garage’s without being hijacked instantly with no room whatsoever to avoid. (Doubt War-zone will ever be balanced to the annoying REQ system which is the worst thing about Halo 5)
Also the radar is a joke because it doesn’t work half the time, I’ve come across a hill in some maps and killed a few people to find more enemy’s have spawned right in front of me which should never happen, not registered on my radar either and yet I’m supposed to know this after wiping out the entire base in one of the armouries which seemed clear. This could either mean me being spawned killed or them being spawned killed.
The active Cameo is useful now but if you’re getting shot…the regeneration of the cameo is inconsistent since I’ve seen players getting shot and somehow within 2 seconds being completely cloaked…yet when I’ve used it or when I’ve seen others using it…usually takes maybe 5-10 seconds.
Also noticed the registration of weapon kills are wrong often like it might claim I’ve killed someone with a melee when I used a dmr or taking maybe 15 seconds to kill someone after I’ve already died…by my dmr. which would mean my death would have possibly be due to the hit-restriction failing to kill the player is the supposed time that the person was originally shot.
Gungoose probably needs to be replaced since that’s also obviously where most of time anyone who drive can get an instant kill while it’s nothing but luck if you can dodge that thing…not sure why they couldn’t have just gone for the duel-machine gun turrets instead of what looks like rockets.
This is probably the one hundredth time I have seen this thread appear and this will be the one hundredth time I defend the weapon balance because apparently every weapon is to good or to bad.
A weapon is OP if you cant counter it in any form and the vast majority of players use it.
This is not the case in 5, every weapon can be countered, can be beaten and can be out skilled in any combat scenario. I could start saying that its a persons own skill level that is the issue but no body will accept that so here is another way to look at the weapons in 5.
Does anybody remember Halo 4 Battle rifle edition. Everybody used the battle rifle, Boltshot and plasma grenade combo, this took months for 343 to fix and became a possible reason for Halo 4s population decline due to the fact that no other weapon was viable and vehicles would die to two plasmas.
Now compare it to 5, non of the weapons are overused, vehicles are now usable. And if you want to go further start comparing 5 to CE, 2 or 3 because they sure as hell weren’t as fully balanced as Halo 5 is.
