Some Marketing Advice.

Honestly guys, I think everything about the game looks fine so far.

If there’s something you actually don’t like about the standard game in release, you’ll probably get a playlist without those things anyway, so chill.

There is one thing however:

Some names 343 have chosen for stuff, and the way it was presented, is limited, and probably is the main reason why people are raging.

For instance: “Spartan Ops”.

Yes, it sounds like Spec Ops, and while Carp of Duty did not invent Co-op missions, the name is very evocative of it to the simple minded and I would suggest something more familiar and generic.

Just call it “Firefight Mission”.

Another one is “Forerunner Vision”.

Seriously, are we going all mystical and -Yoink- in H4? People have likened it to Detective Mode from Batman: Arkham Asylum, but to me it sounds more like Eagle Vision from Assassin’s Creed.

Is it really hard to say “VISR 2.0” or something? Comon, guys.

Finally, if you want to do some shameless target market pandering, have Frankie appear on The Big Bang Theory during their Halo night and say:

“Hi, I’m Frank O’Connor from 343 and my Weta Warthog broke down in front of your building with a ton of pre-release copies of Halo 4 in it. Can I use your phone to call a dude from New Zealand to tell me how to fix this thing?”

I’m sure they can think of an excuse as to why he doesn’t have a cellphone or didn’t try any other appartment in the building.

So, yeah, that’s all for now.

Also, just use Credits instead of Spartan Points.

“Firefight Missions” is a terrible name. Spartan Ops suits the gamemode. They shouldn’t change something because there’s a similar feature in another game with a similar name. They didn’t add Theatre mode to Call of Duty and call it “Rewind Cinema Mode” or something dumb like that, they called it Theatre mode, because it sounds better.

Spartan Ops is a fine name. You play as Spartans and you go on Operations.

I disagree about the names, they’re just placeholders. They don’t matter.

Spartan Ops is a placeholder name, it will be changed before retail release.

And to be fair, Forerunner vision is a PERFECT name, it isn’t VISR 2.0, it is similar to it, but it isn’t it.

No offense and not trying to be rude but every other name you suggested sound Idiotic, long, and totally unoriginal in its self.

There all logical names they all make since to me spartan are in fact special forces operatives so its logical they would go on Special forces operations(which is a Normal everyday military term) and spartan Ops just Mean Spartan operations makes since to me

Im sure they’re even sure forerunner vision has changed and anything its changed to will sound undoubtedly better vision 2.0

EDIT: IM really sorry this sounded really rude and i didn’t mean for it to, But i do Love the Big bang part the hilarity that would ensue would be awesome marketing

I disagree with everything, but the Big Bang Theory with Frankie was genius!

I think they should get marketing advice from someone other than you.

Although the Big Bang Theory idea was quite nice, I’ll give you that. I’d love to see that take place.

Firefight missions sounds a little…bland. It’s horrible advice because Spartan Ops isn’t Fireight and that’s going to confuse fans who’ve been told Firefight isn’t coming back. That’s bad marketing advice right there. I am not trying to sound mean because i am just calling it how i see it.

Man, i think the name Spartan Ops is growing on me though i still hope it’s just a place holder. If not, no biggie, it’s not going to kill me if 343 doesn’t change it in the end.

Still, it’s better than calling it challenge mode or survival mode.

Me? Since you asked for a suggestion, i think calling it Infinity would be fine but that’s what the MP is being called now (damn D: ). Still, i think that naming the new mode Infinity is simple and doesn’t sound like it’s ripping off COD. Sounds cooler too.

They are just placeholder names, don’t get too hung up on them

“A rose by any other name would smell just as sweet” Gus Sorola.

I think at least those names are place holders, but they definitely should have had better names to be advertised with, especially Spartan points… it just sounds really lame.

Of course it’s a terrible name, but what I am saying is that they can break a leg and find something more original.

It doesn’t matter if Spartan Ops sounds better, every idiot on the planet is associating it with COD, even Machinima, and that’s not good.

IDK, they could just add a “Mission” and “Simulation” tab under Infinity or something.

Suggestions?
