Some ideas for the X1 Halo

After browsing through some topics I saw some good ideas and some that were “eh”. So here is my list of ideas that I think should be included in the new Halo.

  1. Map sizes: I think multiplayer maps need to be larger. Now 343i can take a look at the way Dice does their maps in terms of sizing. They don’t use different maps for different game types. They just scale them different which I think is great.

  2. Characters: I think Cortana should return sometime in the Halo saga, but not this one. I would like to se them finally introduce Blue team. I think with the relationship they have with 117 it would help build him as a “human” in the game. I mean seeing friends you grew up with come back into your life would be emotional even for John. I would also like the Engineers to be used like they are in the books and not just floating targets like in H3: ODST.

  3. Battles: With the power of the X1 I want to see very large battles that’ll look impossible to beat. Put the player in situations like they put the Spartans in in the books. Make the player feel as if he/she is a Spartan and it requires out of the box thinking to escape.

  4. Survival/Firefight: I would like to see this return, but instead of rounds just make the enemies whether they are covenant, flood, insurrectionist, or even Prometheans consistently coming at you from all directions with all weapons and vehicles. Again, making the player feel like a Spartan facing impossible odds.

  5. Dynamic maps: I would like to see 343i again take a page out of Dice’s page and put in fully destructible maps. Obviously, 343i would put their own spin on the effects, but I think it would be epic to see running across the battlefield to an objective or teammate.

  6. Vehicles: For the large 64+ multiplayer to work they would definitely have to be a lot more vehicles like the return of the Falcon or Hornet. Also, some vehicles that were only campaign vehicles. Transport vehicles would definitely be a must due to the scale of the maps.

  7. Space battles: Even though this is highly unlikely I would like to see space battles like Star Wars: Battlefront had. It would be a great new idea for Halo universe by adding no gravity fights along with the high speed battles with the seraphs.

  8. Flood Spartans: I think this is inevitable as the flood is evolving. To further the evidence I think they were testing it out in H4 to see how people would react to Flood Spartans.

I would LOVE to have a survival mode. Those are the best with 4-5 buddies fighting in straight chaos until death. I have had the best moments playing firefight on ODST and horde mode on Gears of War. Firefight in Reach just didn’t cut it. Rounds just need to keep getting harder and harder with unlocks and the likes of it.

Also, I would love to have the music from the first three back. Halo 4’s music was great don’t get me wrong, but it just didn’t give that epic halo feel from the original. I don’t know if 343 can since the split or wants to take the new games on its own path but I would love some old music mixed it at least.

Not to put you down, but I don’t like any of those ideas. The large scale battles with larger maps sound ok, but the larger maps overall sounds terrible. Halo’s main focus has been in a few places; 2v2s, 4v4s, and BTB with 4v4 being the staple. 1v1 and FFA to a lesser extent. You could easily have large scale for the BTB person, but 4v4 would certainly suffer from the upscale in maps. This would essentially undermine Halo’s bread and butter. That is a large part of halo 4’s downfall IMO. It seemed like it was scaled much better for btb and that is why it plays better there and has a larger population. They need to make sure the 4v4 area doesn’t suffer again. All aspects have the potential to benefit from the Xbox one.

Things Taken Out/ Can be Improved

  • The Assault Gametype was taken out and replaced with Extraction. Though Extraction is fun and creative it just doesn’t have the destructive feel of Assault.

  • Flood, which replaced Infection, was awesome to see but by removing Infection they removed hundreds of Custom Games that would have kept more people playing Halo 4.

  • Though VIP wasn’t in REACH or Halo 4 I expected to see atleast something related to it. For anyone who played VIP on Halo 3 knows how exciting it can be defending an actual person instead of a flag or hill.

  • I enjoyed playing CTF and being able to shoot players in the face while I stole their flag but can’t they put a setting that allows players to choose from one-handed to two-handed?

  • Regicide is somewhat like Juggernaut but it’s more of a whoever has the highest score becomes the KING. They should add Juggernaut for people who wanna gang up on one guy for a chance to be it.

  • I know Invasion wouldn’t really make sense with Spartans vs Spartans but the idea of multiple objectives in one game was incredible. I’m sure Invasion will be making a comeback.

  • Firefight will obviously be making it back in the Halo series. It’s too perfect of a Gametype for them to pass up.

  • Stockpile would be a simple addition. It can be a side Gametype like Neutral Flag.

<Elements of Forge that were take out or messed with…>

  • The lights in Halo 4 were dull and almost not worth adding to a map.
  • Some of the Special Effects in Halo 4 worked the same but others made the map look weird and players weren’t able to get that night look they wanted.
  • Maps like Ravine, Impact and Erosion were cool LOOKING, but actually working with the map itself was a hassle. Invisible walls made it hard to place maps properly and there wasn’t enough… variety.

Bigger maps = slower more boring gameplay. One of the reasons I prefer Halo is because IT ISN’T COD OR BF. Let’s not change that please.

That’s really just your opinion, and a rather misguided opinion at that.

Big maps doesn’t make Halo more like CoD or BF, that’s just an outrageous claim. Halo has always had large maps like Sandtrap, Blood Gulch, Containment, etc. Some people adore BTB, where these maps make their home, and BTB is just as much a part of Halo as 4v4 is. Making bigger BTB maps would be expanding on that part of Halo, and there is no wrong in that.

If you think the OP is asking for all maps in the game to be bigger, then that’s a different thing entirely. Honestly, I’m not sure what he means by what he’s saying.

This maps should only be bigger for larger player counts since large maps with few people dont tend to work well in most cases in halo.

I think he means he just doesn’t want every map to be big like in BF. Honestly every map, no matter the size, has a place in Halo. Maps like Sandtrap and Gaurdian expanded the range of players making Halo 3 amazing. I HOPE they make more big maps, I’m tired of choosing between a few in BTB.
