Hello!
I’ve been playing the Halo franchise for a fairly long time and I would like to give you guys over at 343 some feedback on your first every Halo entry into the Franchise.
First off congratulations on your first game as a studio! I understand how much effort dedication and time it takes to get a team focused and get a product out the door, Especially one as big as Halo 4 so very well done indeed.
In this topic I’m just going to talk about a few aspects of features regarind mainly the multiplayer and not the single player although to give a score for the single player I’d rate it 8.5/10 as a standalone game.
The multiplayer is very fun indeed, There are a ton of weapons in the game but still retains a good balance between them.
My first kind of critic is the infamous DMR vs BR debate which has no doubt seen some discussion haha.
First of all The DMR has so little bloom that it has a 80-90% hit rate on full spam. The bloom is so small and the gun is so accurate when spamming you might aswell remove bloom entirely since all it’s doing at the moment is making every 1 in 10 shots miss which is randomness and randomness is bad.
Secondly the BR feels like an underdog, I like the vertical recoil it has as it limits it’s range where the DMR outshines it which is great. However a 13 bullet/5 round burst killhas almost exactly the same Time to kill as the DMR except it is harder to use the BR as you have to maintain accuracy for longer than the DMR because of the Burst fire mechanic.
Secondly I love the fact you’ve added an actual weapon based progression system which adds replayability along with perks and other things. But the killstreak rewards in Slayer don’t feel right and don’t neccessarily complement the experience in my opinion. I don’t have beef with killstreaks themselves it’s just that in the Halo scene they don’t feel like they add anything to the experience.
Maybe I haven’t noticed but there seems to be a distinct lack of “Large” maps. I’ve only played on 3 that feel “big” and for Capture the flag the samller maps do tend to feel alittle rediculous. Valhalla is pretty sweet though!
Overall I really like the experience I’m having so far with Halo 4, It’s very rare that you get a game with both a compelling single player AND multiplayer.
Thanks for reading! (:
