Some feedback after playing 24 hours of the flight

This post is my direct feedback to 343i after having played, as the top of the post says, 24 hours of the Infinite flight over the course the the past 2 weekends. For some context, Halo is easily my most played game franchise ever, I’ve played a ton of every mainline game in the series aside from 5 (I didnt have an xbox one when it came out) and have been playing them since 2001.

Off the bat, I wanna personally thank 343i. The flight was such a joy to play, I am very excited for the release of the full game in December, and my feedback here will mostly be positives, with a few points of constructive criticism. And any point of criticism I give is purely in the spirit of wanting Halo Infinite to be the best game it possibly can be. That said…

The Positives

  • Gunplay was incredibly solid, most of the guns we were able to use in the flight feel like they are in a good place in terms of balance and fun - Sound design was very solid all around, guns had great sound effects, as well as the vehicles and the use of music in multiplayer matches - The design and aesthetics of most armor and environments feels very authentically Halo while also using some new elements that fit within the aesthetics of the franchise - On PC, being able to invite people through steam and xbox live and recently played people was very nice - On PC, the amount of options you had for customizing every little aspect of your experience was very nice, I very much appreciate the effort the team has clearly gone through to make the game a fully fleshed out PC game - All of the maps in the flight were very fun to play on, they had the feel of classic halo without just being derivative of those older maps - Most of the equipment was pretty balanced feeling and was very enjoyable to use, especially the repulsor and the grapping hookThe Constructive

  • The pulse carbine feels a bit weak, maybe I’m crazy but it definitely feels a bit harder to land kills with than the previous flight - The ravager splash damage from normal shot and the charge shot feels like it does next to no damage, normal fire direct hits feel good to use though - I feel like the shield wall equipment could stand to be a bit stronger, as is I basically never wanted to use it outside of edge cases where my team was trying to hold a chokepoint in BTB - 10 seconds feels like an incredibly long respawn timer for any 4v4 mode, even objective based modes - I played this flight for 24 hours, and even after using all double XP timers available to me as efficiently as I felt I could, I still only got to rank 25ish in the battlepass. 1 level in the battlepass per hour really doesn’t feel like a good fit, even for someone like me who plays Halo as one of their main games. Its too slow in my opinion. - Please make it so that double XP timers are only active while in a match - The Master Chief Collection’s Seasonal Battlepasses have a system where within every 10 tiers you can choose what order you get your rewards in, I would really like having that system for battlepasses in Infinite
    A couple of requests
Yeah this stuff is purely items that I would personally like to see in the game though it has no bearing on my critical thoughts of the game, this is just from someone who is a very big fan of Halo to 343i, and also some of this stuff may have already been confirmed or denied, but I cant keep up with every bit of news about this game these are just some fun suggestions

  • Please add AI assistant voices with the voices of Cortana, SGT Johnson, and 343 Guilty Spark - An expanded list of armor effects, the ones that were in past games were very cool and it’d just be nice to see some new ones at some point - Armor sets from Halo 3 - I know the melee exploit (Shoot a bullet, then quickly XBXBXB etc) will be patched out, but I think eventually having it as something you can do in custom games options would be fun! But yeah the flight was a lot of fun, and I’m rooting for everyone in this home stretch of Infinite’s development! If you’re a 343i employee and you actually took the time to read this, I really appreciate it.
