In Custom Games, we can find weapon variants pretty similar to req variants of Halo 5. They’re upgraded weapons with different properties than their common varieties, such as the Volatile Skewer, which fires a spike that explodes.
Well, I think some equipment variants would be nice to see, so I’ve gone ahead and written what those might be.
Grappleshotty - Upgraded grappleshot that fires multiple grapples, it can pull you in faster if they all hit the same target, or it can pull in multiple targets.
Grappleshock - Other alternative idea since the grappleshotty is a little outlandish, this would apply electricity to whatever you grapple to. The longer you’re grappled for, the greater the effect. This is excellent to EMP an enemy vehicle, or to drain enemy shields to weaken them.
Hardlight Wall - Forerunner upgraded Drop Wall, this can survive any attack, blocks vehicles/enemy players on the outer side, and is maybe 50% larger. The catch? You can still hit the weak point of the shield (at the bottom, there’s a generator) to disable it. Which is extremely easy to do, so this is entirely fair.
Threat Forecaster - Threat sensor with 2 times the detection range, 5 times the duration, and gives the user (plus any teammates nearby) enhanced radar for precise enemy locations. (you can already see them through walls, so this doesn’t make it that OP) At the radius of the original threat sensor, the Threat Forecaster’s abilities are even stronger, and can detect active camo players (only if they’re walking full speed)
Surrounding Repulser - Rather than only push in the direction you’re facing, this will push everything around you. The push effect is also a bit stronger with greater range, and can break enemy shields if they’re pushed against a wall, and deal a bit of damage to small vehicles that get knocked into walls too (like only a mongoose and ghost though)
Thruster Jets - An upgraded thruster pack with 25% increased thrust distance, -20% to cooldown, and breaks any current lock-on effects, such as the tracking from a hydra launcher, heatwave, needler, etc. and maybe you could change direction a little while using it (so you could go around a corner for example)
I think out of all these, the Hardlight Wall needs to be added the most. It seems like a lot of people don’t like the Drop Wall, and for good reason. It’s very small, takes a while to deploy, and is gone quickly. This solves two of the problems, making it more like a deployable cover of Halo 3. Plus a bigger, blue shield would just look cool.
