Some design questions for 343

I’ve been following Halo 4 since release day, and I’m interested in some of the design choices you guys made regarding the meta of Halo 4:

  1. Why does it take more than one Spartan Laser shot to kill a Mantis?
  2. Do you think it was detrimental to the game to have sticky grenades in the loadout? Did the prevalence of sticky grenades make the Automatic Load-out Weapons and default Warthog obsolete?
  3. Why did you remove the Wraith from the default maps?

These changes were made close to 18 months ago, but I’d like to know so I can have some closure as to why these decisions were made.

Good luck with that closure. These questions have been asked for quite some time now, and with no answers in sight.

> 1. Why does it take more than one Spartan Laser shot to kill a Mantis?

This is because of how the Spartan laser shoots it’s lasers, and the fact that the Mantis has shields.

> 2. Do you think it was detrimental to the game to have sticky grenades in the loadout? Did the prevalence of sticky grenades make the Automatic Load-out Weapons and default Warthog obsolete?

This is a question that I myself have been searching the answer for, but i disagree with the statement that they make Automatics as a whole obsolete

> 3. Why did you remove the Wraith from the default maps?

Likely because the Wraith was “Incompatible” with the new Vehicle layouts, which you can Thank Ordinance and Plasma Grenades for causing.

a Wraith is gonna have a hard time Fighting with a Mantis, a Gauss hog, and possibly a banshee all at once.

I wish I understood the thought process that came into making certain decisions…

Whoever was in charge of balance failed. Horribly horribly failed.

They probably had an inner-ear problem XD
