To me, the SWAT playlist is the best playlist in Halo 4 because it is the only playlist that stuck to the formula the game mode used in the past games. That being said, I think it could still be improved a lot by implementing things from past games, like:
-More maps. I’d love it if a Construct remake, an Ivory Tower remake or a Midship remake made into the playlist like the Lockout remake will. To make room, Complex should be removed and only played in BTB IMO.
-Weapon specific gametypes, like how Halo 3 had ShWATguns. Even though I hated ShWATguns in H3, the idea of having a version of SWAT for different weapons sounds great. Maybe put in a SWAT BRs, SWAT DMRs, SWAT Covies (with Carbines) and my favourite, the SWAgnums mode.
-CTF should be put in as well, but the Flagnum needs to be gone to make the flag carrier not so OP. This doesn’t matter too much when there are shields, but in SWAT it is extremely important that it is gone. Maybe put Oddball in here, too
-Sprint should stay, because none of the pro SWAT users even use sprint.
-No more insta-spawn. I hate insta-spawn in all game modes, so it should be gone in SWAT too IMO

I agree that there should be more maps. I was kind of hoping that the forge playist would feature more SWAT friendly maps, maybe sometime in the future. Solace is the bane of my existence in SWAT and in general…I just don’t like the map. I don’t play Complex that often on SWAT, but yeah…I’d be okay with getting it out of there.
ShWATguns! I kind of miss this…though it did get aggravating. I was never a big fan of SWAgnums but I like using the magnum in H4 more than I did Reach or 3. In addition to Carbines, we need Lightrifle SWAT. Maybe have a gametype called SWATET (SWAT Extra-terrestrial) that would replace the DMR with the Carbine and BR with the LR.
Please no Ctf. I am not a huge fan of CTF in general, and adding it to swat just sounds miserable. I think it was in 3 and I would avoid it at all costs. I also have this feeling that people would vote for it way too much and I’m not a huge fan of having the vote determine what gametype I play.
I don’t know who these “pro SWAT users” are…but why wouldn’t they use sprint? If you need to catch up to your teammates or move from cover to cover…why put yourself in more danger by walking?
I don’t mind instant respawn. To me, SWAT should be fast paced and exciting. IR speeds up the game and forces you to keep your guard up. I never have a problem with people spawning behind me or really close to me. If they do spawn close, I just shoot them in the face again for a double kill.
Overall, not bad suggestions. I do hope that they do add some stuff though, no reason to let the playlist stagnate.

You put yourself in more danger by sprinting, because in the half-second or so you have to disengage sprint after you spot someone, you can’t shoot. That half-second, in SWAT, is enough time for someone to put a bullet in your head and kill you. It’s more noticeable going around corners, because they can easily get a headcase on you the moment they see you. But I can see what you mean about the positives of Sprint.
