I know not everyone agrees with the way challenges may be designed, but I actually quite enjoy them overall. Though, there are some that are simply not enjoyable and actually force me (or my team) to play badly. This seems contradictory to what a challenge should do, namely challenge you to do something difficult, requiring you to play skillfully.
For example, challenges such as “Fiesta Killjoy” that require you to “Stop Enemy Killing Sprees in Fiesta PvP” force me to hold back from playing my best. If my team and I are playing well, then the enemies have little to no chance of getting on a killing spree. My solution is to just run into battle and let myself be killed in the hopes they can get on a killing spree for me to then end and fulfill my challenge requirement.
Another example is the challenge (I forget the name) during the Attrition event that require you to revive your teammates. If my teammate and I are running in to secure a kill, I have an incentive to let him be killed so I can secure my challenge quota. Challenges like this just don’t encourage fun gameplay.
Don’t get me wrong… I don’t think these challenges are impossible to achieve. They will eventually come naturally through enough gameplay. The problem is enough gameplay can grow to become quite a time commitment, and begins to incentivize the unfavorable gameplay outline above.
Probably too much text for such a small problem (that most players probably aren’t concerned with), but I don’t think it would be difficult to fix by removing a few of these awkward challenges.
