Some advice to 343: Easy to make loot! :)

Alright 343, Halo 5 is getting a bit stale. As of now there are rumours Halo 6 will get released in 2019… So maybe 1,5 more years of Halo 5?? How can Halo 5 survive such a long time without any new updates?

Well, here some simple solutions: Add some spice into this game with some new REQ’s/armors/helmets! I know most of your attention goes out to Halo Wars 2, so why not make it really easy on yourself?

Just check what the most popular helmets/armor pieces are and add some awesome new versions of those into the loot pool. People will come back to play this game! This is the reason Destiny survived 3 crappy years: People love LOOT. And Halo 5 is better than Destiny, so just imagine…

I personally love to see an ODST helmet and armor set added to the game… But that would require probably a lot of designing. So why not add an ODST kind of version of the two helmets that look the most like ODST: Helljumper and Nightfall. Just a thick white stripe over the center of the helmet. DONE! People will love it (I know I would). Or maybe some black thingy that’s added to these helmets like Halo Reach versions of ODST (like the Recon GEN 1 helmet has). A new card that people will LOVE and one that would be SUPER EASY to make! Even easier that Recon GEN 1. The helmet is already there. Only add a white stripe and or a black thingy and a new super popular helmet is born. Hell, you can even make it a mythic card.

Also, many people have asked for a Buck kind of version of Helljumper. And that set is probably the easiest to make. Just get a helljumper set and remove the white paint. Call it Helljumper Buck. DONE!

Well, these are just two of my favorite helmets/armor sets. But I don’t know the statistics. What helmets/armor sets are popular? How easy would it be to add a new version of those armors?

Long story short/TL:DR: Easy to design REQs that will make Halo 5 fans happy can add to the longevity of Halo 5.

If the Halo 3 / Reach ODST helmet were to somehow return, there would be ravers EVERYWHERE. I think it’s best to have the base helmet return, although I wouldn’t mind if the UA upgrade was thrown in.

Personally I want them to have their full focus and man power on h6, just so it can be a more complete game at launch. Updates on h5 could be taking resources away from h6.

the odst and other classic armor is nice but the req system feels over saturated already to me.

yup, just because you made this thread they’ll stop working on everything they do at the moment just to make you some new REQ’s.
no offense, but won’t happen, not anytime soon, more likely never at all anymore.

There is no reason to be rude. What he is doing is what this place is all about. He may not know that there isnt anymore content coming.

I’m not rude, I’m simply honest.
Threads like that make people (unnecessarily) get their hopes up.
I mean come on man, let us be serious. even now, most of the players don’t have everything unlocked
or all the certs, almost two years past release. and the people who do have everything unlocked probably
got so much REQ’s piled up, it won’t be possible to spend 'em until the next major Halo game releases.

long story short, there’s simply no need for new REQ’s.

I wouldnt mind new reqs, currently sitting on almost 300k atm, but i know they arent coming unless its a total surprise by 343. I was just trying to say that instead of being condescending do the op you could have informed him that no new content is coming.

The same principal doesn’t apply to Halo 5. Destiny is designed to be a looter shooter; a game where you can earn weapons with perks and use them in any game mode you please. Halo is not built with this kind of system in mind. In Destiny, there are many different variations of pulse rifles, their equivalent of Battle Rifles, with various stats and perks that affect their rate of fire, stability, effective range, and so on. In Halo, we have only two Battle Rifles, and they perform similar to one another. Although the regular BR has access to a plethora of attachments, it still doesn’t work like a pulse rifle from Destiny because of how they’re restricted in game. You can only choose a BR with a specific attachment in Warzone. In all other game modes, it’s dependent on whether or not a BR variant is on the map.

Because of this, earning ‘loot’ in Halo 5 isn’t as exciting as it is in other games designed with loot in mind. Especially since armor is just cosmetic and offers no tactical advantage, whereas armor in other games can have perks and allow players to create builds, especially if weapon perks and classes are also a factor. Additionally, 343 has already added a ton of new weapons and armor over Halo 5’s cycle, and the base game plus all of the updates take up 9 times as much space as Skyrim or Fallout 4.

An easy way for 343 to make money is NOT make Halo 6 a Call of Duty ripoff and a fanfiction, then all the Halo fans will come back and 343 will make a lot more money. Easy as pie.

Exactly this!

This isn’t a scavenging game like destiny. It will just break the meaning of halo, military game, not an mmo or rpg or adventure game.

Trying to do what Destiny did isn’t going to work. Destiny is a loot-based shooter and Halo isn’t.

And the funny part is that many people have enough REQ points to buy like a hundred Gold packs, so no matter how many new REQs they put in, they’ll immediately be used up a day later and we’re back to the content droughts.

I agree in general but I think some balancing to the game-play of H5 wouldn’t necessarily take away from H6 resources, since many of the foundational principles will be the same anyway, and trying them out in H5 could give some valuable player statistics to help guide the balancing of H6’s multiplayer.

I mean we’re in this weird state right now where more casual players think the game is too competitive due to bad balance, but the competitive players think it’s too casual due to bad balance… both complain about the same things (eg. pace being too fast/hectic) but yet lay the blame on each other, it’s quite saddening to see the community so divided even though so many of the actual details have the same opinions when you look closer
I think sorting this out in H5 is not only “possibly helpful” for H6 but actually necessary to avoid another flop of a launch.

Things like armour, weapon skins etc. I don’t think would have the same kind of transfer-ability.

Twisting other peoples words from a hopeful suggestion into an unreasonable demand is literally the opposite of being honest.

Uhh, no?
It’s just a discussion/suggestion.
The last thing you should want for the success of a franchise is to discourage discussion for improvements etc.
Pointing out that it’s too late & not realistic is one thing, but actively discouraging such suggestions all together is entirely different.

My thought: a lot of classic halo fans will move to Halo 3 once it’s backwards compatible and 5’s popoulation will be lower than ever. I’m going to have to move along to Destiny 2 this winter once I’m done grinding unlocks.

That’s why I suggest some extremely easy armors/helmets to make. So they don’t hve to take time off from Halo 6. What is easier than removing white paint from Helljumper to make Helljumper Buck or add a white stripe to the middle of the helmet to create some sort of ODST variant of Helljumper and/or nightfall?

Many people are already done with all the loot in the game and quit because of that. That’s why I gave Destiny as an example. That game wouldn’t have lasted 3 years if they didn’t add a bunch of new loot every 6 months.

Have you even read my post? I suggest the easiest to make REQs ever. Removing white paint from Helljumper to create Buck’s armor. Adding a white stripe to the helmet to create an ODST kinda helmet. No-one needs to take time off from Halo 6.

I know there are rumors that no new updates will come. But it would be a bad idea because people will stop playing Halo 5. No FPS fans will move to Halo Wars 2 if that’s what 343 is hoping. Maybe they move to Destiny 2.

That’s why I suggest the easiest to make helmets/armor in the game that take pretty much no time to make for 343 and that are fan favorites.

What do you mean “getting people’s hopes up”? I am not working for 343. I am not making false promises. I suggest extremely easy to make armor/helmets that Halo fans will love.

Halo already has loot. I’m not suggesting anything game breaking.

I know loot in Destiny and Halo aren’t exactly the same. But however you want to put it: Helmets/armor/weapon skins/Warzone vehicles/warzone weapons ARE loot. And people love them. Otherwise we saw everyone wearing Recruit armor all the time.
