So I wanted to preface this by saying that most of this is either a restating or personal opinion on a few points that a famous YouTuber, HiddenXperia (check his channel out it’s pretty cool) has made recently. Also forgive me if this post seems a bit unstructured I’m just typing and adding whatever comes to mind as I’m doing it.
So in his video he says that instead of awarding 50 XP for completing a match, (and I don’t remember the exact number he suggested) it should be about 100 for a loss or a tie, and much more for a win. I agree but I think it would be more effective for about 75 for a loss, 125 for a tie, and maybe 150-200 for a win, which sounds like a lot, but I’d say 5 wins to rank up, ignoring other challenges done is fair enough, and it rewards skill while still allowing players who maybe aren’t as skilled in the challenges to get more XP then they can earn now.
Another thing that he brought up in his video is the concept of medals like double, triple, overkills etc. gaining you XP if you do them. He didn’t offer any numbers for these rewards so I thought of some. So a double kill could earn about 50 points of XP, a triple could be worth 75, overkill would be 100 and so on. This could also apply to more unique medals, for instance a back smack could be about 50 or so, a hijack could be 75 with a grapple-jack being about 100 or so, and I think Combat Evolved should be 150
Most importantly I think actually playing the objective in games should be much more highly rewarded. In slayer, I think each kill itself should be about 25 XP, and assists could be 10. If you were to capture a flag, I think maybe about 250 points of XP should be awarded, and for planting a power seed in stockpile, maybe 50 per seed could work. Oddball however seems difficult to actually reward points for, so if you think of something better feel free to comment or make your own post about it. But in oddball, I think for each second that it is held, it should award about 2-5 XP, and killing the holder should be about 75.
One last thing is the topic of Bot Bootcamp: Until we can select different levels to play against, we are stuck on Marine difficulty. So I think each of these points that were just mentioned should be equal to the bot level. Here’s what I mean:
Recruit: One-fourth of the points
Marine: One Half
ODST: Three-fourths
Spartan: Equal to normal gameplay
(For any higher level planned to be made, each level should go from 1/5 all the way to normal scores and so on for each new level added)
