Both are off, but OPs formula is more on the money. There is either something missing from Holmes formula, or it’s just completely wrong.
Edit: Found Holmes post on Reddit. Full formula is [K+(A/3)-D]/GP.
[1419 + (559/3) - 969] = 636.333 / 96 = 6.6284
They are both ‘off’ from what is displayed in game, so I’m not sure what to conclude.
Josh Holmes also mentioned that the calculation is a little buggy (melee kills aren’t included properly or something)
I would rather prefer KD Difference or KDD

Shows if you go negative or positive kills on average and by how much
BUT if we could see KDD and a working KDA Formula side by side it would be awesome
It has been admitted that melees are somehow not counted

Change .25 to .18 and it works:
(1419 - 969 + .18 * 559) / 96 = 5.735625
That being: (K - D + .18 * A) / Games played = KDA
That might just be making the formula fit the result. Will need to see more records to check if it works.

Maybe it changes slightly based on rank, but the formula i posted has worked consistently on mine.
That settles it then, OP is mistaken but good effort.

In-game KDA is very very wrong, I’ve looked at other players’ service records who had comparable stats to mine and the KDA was completely different. I’m pretty sure the calculation is broken.

As mentioned in the link to Josh’s tweet, melee kills don’t seem to be getting included properly. I’m assuming this also includes sword kills, which people who played in the preview beta/first week racked up quite a few of and thus threw off numbers.
