Many people – myself included – have been frustrated with the new Halo 3 back-compatible game for X Box One not recognizing the map packs, even if you’ve downloaded them and even if you’ve installed them. Consequently, you’re unable to go into most of the playlists (which require the map packs), and can’t go into the Forge and Custom Games versions of those maps, either.
Here’s the solution. The problem is that while the maps have been downloaded and installed, they haven’t been LAUNCHED. So, first, make sure you’ve downloaded both Halo 3 and all of the Map Packs (Heroic, Legendary, Mythic, Mythic II and Cold Storage). Then, here’s what to do:
===
- Open up Halo 3. If you’d like, you can go to Forge or Custom Games to see the list of maps that are currently recognized by the game. - Hit the center “X Box” button on your controller. A sidebar should open up that shows options for friends, messages, etc. - Go down to the icon for NOTIFICATIONS. Another sidebar should open up next to it that shows all of your recent downloads (among other notifications). - Go to EACH downloaded map pack individually and hit LAUNCH. You won’t see anything really happen, except that if you go back into Forge or Custom Games, you’ll see that the maps from that map pack now populate the list. - Once you’ve done that for each of the map packs – Heroic, Legendary, Mythic, Mythic II and Cold Storage – you’ll be able to enter any and all of the playlists straight away; you won’t even need to exit and restart the game. - If, for some reason, the downloads are NOT listed in your Notifications queue, just delete them out and re-download them (they’re small, so it’ll be quick). They’ll automatically reappear in your queue, and you can Launch them from there. - There is no 7. That’s it!===
I hope this is the solution that everybody’s been looking for. It worked for me, so I thought I’d share. Let me know here if there’s a problem, or if it works for you too.
