If you are in the Xbox Preview Program, you may have noticed that when you try to join friends’ game sessions you get an error saying something like the connection to the game had been lost.
You can solve this easily if you uninstall the “Wireless Display App (preview)”. I had been trying for days to play Halo with friends until I uninstall that app and now it works with zero issues.

Oh man, thank you for this find. My brother and I just spent the entire weekend in frustration trying to figure out why we suddenly couldn’t play together. I never would’ve made the link between the Wireless Display preview app and Halo: MCC multiplayer. Like, seriously, how is it that it only affected Halo: MCC? My brother and I tested out a half a dozen other multiplayer games and had no problems with them, but with Halo: MCC it was three straight days of “Connection Failed”?
We both reported the problem via the Preview Dashboard app as well.

So what if you’re not in the preview program? Buddy an I are both not in the preview program, and joining each other’s session keeps failing. Any ideas?

This problem is still happening for me and a friend and it is -Yoink!- us both off bad. We dont have that app and we both have OPEN nats. Everything was working perfectly then all of a sudden around 3 weeks ago BOOM cant connect. -Yoink-
Almost a year later and I still can’t seamlessly join a friend for matchmaking. Mind blown and completely unacceptable.
Where can I uninstall the app? It’s not in my games and apps!
