Solutions to those of you tha get offended by what people say

Solutions to anyone offended by voicechat:

  1. Don’t have a mic
  2. If you do have a mic, turn it to game sounds only
  3. Mute people
  4. Turn your TV off
  5. Go outside

Then you don’t have to go through life being offended by words, well apart from option 5 then you will hear even worse things being said more than likely.

I agree, best way of dealing with it. I also have text chat set to hidden so anything someone has said to me via it will never be seen.

Would be nice if people just acted civil and didn’t say abusive things, blast music or send post game abuse messages. Gamers gonna be gamers I guess.

  1. Report them.

If you violate the Code of Conduct during communication activities on Xbox Live, we’ll temporarily block your profile from using all communication features for the duration of the suspension. However, you can still use the Xbox Live service and other features and apps.

Some of the communication features that are suspended include:

  • Text and voice messages
  • Video communications
  • In-game and party chats

For more info about the types of activities that can result in a communications suspension, see the Community Standards for Xbox page

The latter is what makes the experience fun.

Seemed to happen so infrequently to me in H3 tbh.

Same here. The Halo 3 chat was toxic but I loved it to bits because I rather live in reailtity

I prefer to live in the matitrix :stuck_out_tongue:

Personally I prefer to avoid toxic situations and people when I have the power to do so. I don’t get anything out of someone telling me I’m trash both when I beat them and lose to them, bit I’m sure like yourself some people get a kick out of it.

Man freedom of speech went totally out the window on this one, I wasn’t offending anyone, wasn’t calling anyone names or being mean, just offering solutions and people got offended and flagged it as inappropriate :joy::joy::joy: this is exactly what is wrong with the world - can’t say anything without causing offence.

This is literally the only right answer. If someones being a ****, report them and hope action is taken against them.

I’m all for making communities friendlier and more accessible, but there are better ways to do it than limiting communication, now it’s just my team that’s toxic.

They should just do a toggle so people can opt out of comms, or options for limiting the degree of communication you can receive, not throw everyone under the bus.

The current way things are hasn’t actually solved anything.

I agree, the issue is its fairly all or nothing right now. Want to turn off random messages, team chat no longer works. Want to stop hearing enemy team, can’t hear teammates.

So basically options to turn chat on/off in the settings would make everyone happy!

There we go 343, we did your job for you!:+1::wink:

Or you could grow a pair, tell them to get rekt and move on without bothering mommy with petty issues.

Just saying.

For clarity, trash talking is allowed. But being offensive for the sake of being offensive is not.

iv. Keep your content clean

People enjoy all shapes and styles of content with Xbox. Everyone’s tastes are different, and that’s great! However, that doesn’t mean that absolutely anything goes. To keep the Xbox community welcoming and inclusive for everyone, some content must be avoided.

Support a welcoming and inclusive community

Harassment and hate take many forms, but none have a home here. To make the Xbox community a place where everyone can hang out, and to prevent people from feeling uncomfortable or unwelcome, we all need to be stewards. This means more than just not harassing other players—it means embracing them. It means saving those unsavory jokes for people you know will enjoy them. It means taking particular care for others while you play, keeping in mind how they might interpret your content.

For example, don’t:

  • Make fun of other people’s identities or personal traits
  • Send harassing or abusive messages
  • Use a club to shame other players or groups
  • Start a broadcast in order to troll someone
  • Flood voice chat with music during a multiplayer match
  • Post game clips that will offend many others

Know the difference between trash talk and harassment

We get it—gaming can be competitive and interactions with other players can get heated. A little trash talk is an expected part of competitive multiplayer action, and that’s not a bad thing. But hate has no place here , and what’s not okay is when that trash talk turns into harassment.

Trash talk includes any lighthearted banter or bragging that focuses on the game at hand and encourages healthy competition. Harassment includes any negative behavior that’s personalized, disruptive, or likely to make someone feel unwelcome or unsafe. To qualify as harassment, the behavior doesn’t have to be drawn-out or persistent. Even a single abusive message could harm someone’s experience. Know when to draw the line, when to back off. Know and respect the other player.

For example:

Acceptable trash talk includes

Get destroyed. Can’t believe you thought you were on my level.

That was some serious potato aim. Get wrecked.

Only reason you went positive was you spent all game camping. Try again, kid.

Cheap win. Come at me when you can actually drive without running cars off the road.

That sucked. Get good and then come back when your k/d’s over 1.

Going too far looks like

Get sexual threat. Can’t believe you thought you were on my level.

Hey profanity, that was some serious potato aim. Get wrecked, trash.

Only reason you went positive was you spent all game camping. KY$, kid.

Cheap win. Totally expected from a racial slur.

You suck. Get out of my country—maybe they’ll let you back in when your k/d’s over 1.

Be yourself, but not at the expense of others

The Xbox community is yours, but it’s everyone else’s too. We encourage showing off what makes you unique and awesome, but it’s not cool to post something that keeps others from having positive experiences. We aspire to a community where gaming can be enjoyed by all . Problematic content just gets in the way. If you’re looking for a place on the internet to be overly edgy or get that rise out of people, Xbox isn’t the place for you.

Your not though. Your just one of 8 billion other meat sacks that will inevitably expire without bringing much to the world. You will be forgotten, its a cruel world.

Once you accept that you wont get butthurt by people quite as often.

Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words can never hurt me.

Anyone remember this? The younger gen has been conditioned to attack and censor differing thoughts and opinions, and it’s really sad to see. If only they realized they are what’s called “useful idiots” actively cheering against their own self-interests.

edit: weird, I didn’t reply to you specifically @Hot_Juicy_Pie , just the post in general. For some reason it shows that way.

Now this is the real debate, the hobby, strictly speaking, is playing video games, nothing more, nothing less, communication is something you can employ to enrich or improve the experience (whether that be through trash-talking or team planning) but is not required.

Listening to XxF4ZEKILLJ0YxX sleep with your mom is not a part of the hobby itself, that’s just how someone acts during the hobby.

And while F4ZE has every right to play as anyone else, that doesn’t mean players shouldn’t have the option to mute them.

It’s like bumping in to “That guy” for IRL hobbies, you should expect to see them, but you can take actions to avoid them or not play with them, but considering this is online qnd you can’t filter matchmaking, muting would be the best equivalent.

The padded cells should be removed, I agree, I believe we should be able to trash talk, communicate, with whoever we desire, which is why I personally want the system changed, this doesn’t mean everyone else who wants no part in it, should be forced into it, because then they’ll just come to the forums and demand changes, and considering the game started in their favor…

That’s why I prefer the OPTION to omit communication, even if it’s just making muting, or blocking chat more accessible.

Oh well… Been dealing with it since Halo 2, and now it seems like every game no one ever likes to generally talk at all in it…

It’s sad too, since communication is so damn powerful in team oriented games…

Plus XxF4ZEKILLJ0YxX would never say that to someone in person so you don’t have to care about people like that in your non-virtual hobbies. Usually hobbies have conduct rules where you expect people to behave cordially.

All my other hobbies people are so welcoming and friendly constantly, in gaming the anonymity and sheer volume of people you interact with is no doubt likely to bring out the full force manchildren to the forefront.
