Solution to quitting

How to minimize quitting (NOTE: minimize because yes, I realize there will always be quitters):

  1. Quitter K/D should drop by .2 points every time they quit. e.g. 1.23 would turn into 1.21, and drop every time they quit.
  2. Quit should count as DNF / Loss

Although I keep hearing that ban does not work, I agree with banning quitters, but the above will impact stats, which I see in the forum is one of the reasons people quit. “i got a terrible team, so I quit blah blah blah.”

What does quitting have to do with K/D?

People would just rage harder especially since servers like to -Yoink- up at times and disconnect randomly.

this is dumb, .2 gets to be like 2000 kills when you have enough kills, so if i lag out i have to get 2000 kills to get my k/d back?

That will only work if they care about K/D, and even then they need to quit five in succession to have any real impact, they would be or should be serving a ban by then. I’m for anything that will help reduce quitting though, so who knows ? It may help.

best solution is still to have the game keep a % record of DNF ( which it sorta does now) and throw all the player with a DNF % over a certain number to be thrown in their own lobbies. that way quitters only play with quitters/ ppl with terrible interenet

You can’t fix it. People quite… they get booted… they get disconnected. The ban is as effective as anything will ever be. The only thing that will go towards correcting the issue is making sure people are properly ranked.

I still think if they started charging req points to quit it would work a heck of a lot better than banning or I figure if people just jump into a game and within the first idk 5 minutes or so if someone quits it goes to a loading screen like the blue screen in halo 2 and finds a replacement player and if the time goes past the allotted 5 minute quit time you are locked into the game and can’t leave.

Hurting a stat won’t slow people down. There would just be a lot of people with really bad K/D ratios if they decided to go this road.

That may work too, but only if they care about req points, I think the ban is as good as it gets.

Interesting idea. I figured most people quit, because they do not want to hurt their stats, but of course there are many reasons people quit.

That makes no sense lol

What I don’t understand is why the game can’t tell a quit from a disconnect or other issue? I mean it makes you go into a menu to quit, then asks you/shows the ban message. People keep saying they are banned for just having bad connections but I find it hard to believe that the game has no easy way to remember quiters vs people having issues. I don’t think a quit should effect KD but I do like the idea of a quit being an automatic loss, most other games already do this

I don’t think punishing the kd of quitting player is going to make a change, I’m pretty sure that this kind of players don’t mind their kd, you could fine them req points along with Ban-hammer, but over punishig players could cause them to stop playing this game and now that I think about it is a good idea we’ll get rid of quitters. But losing players is something that any developer wants so I don’t see 343i implement something more aside Ban-hammer.

K/D is an objective stat. You can’t manipulate it as a punishment, otherwise it is not objective.

Bad suggestion, OP. Shame!
