PROBLEM: We all hate having someone on our team quit, and then having the odds stacked against us. We also hate waiting for games.
SOLUTION: when a player quits, make it so anyone can join. If someone goes on matchmaking, you know how it has search preferences? Have one of the options say “willing to join open games”. This way, someone looking for a game can join a match in which someone else has quit! Its perfect! Let me know what you think
I’m not a huge fan of the idea. Halo, to me, is a game where it works the best if you’ve been playing the match from the beginning. Not to mention, nobody likes joining a game that’s just about to end!
It wouldn’t work, many players seems to love getting easy wins so they would search for games that have begun already, then they will probably leave if they join a game where they are losing, and the players who just wants to join a game that have just started would likely join a game where some premade group is spawnkilling with the banshee.
I’m definitely for this idea in Firefight and Co-op campaign. No reason why you shouldn’t be able to send a friend invite if someone quits out of your match to fill in that open slot.
As far as matchmaking goes, I have mixed feelings. If it were implemented, it should be optional. There should be the default “start search” which is slower, but finds players of your skill level and you play the match from the beginning. The other option is “quick match” which is faster but at your own risk. You will be placed in a match already in progress, with truskill being a non factor. The match could have just began a minute ago or almost over. You can be up against a team of players way better than you, or total noobs. This would obviously only be available in social matches and not ranked.

SOLUTION: Prevent from joining games with 4 minutes or less left.
A drop-in system doesn’t work with the way Halo is supposed to be played: two teams enter, and those same two teams finish. Having random people join mid-game would completely throw off the flow of the game.
Yes, it sucks when people are quitting constantly. To remedy that, a better matchmaking system should be implemented so that people aren’t constantly getting put into lopsided games, which is the main reason that people quit. Don’t remedy powerful grenades with Armor Lock here, people.
I think as a punishment for quitting, they would have to sub in for a game.
For example, a player quits 2 games in a row, they would have to join 2 aready in progress games to fill in other quitters positions that have had some1 quit on their team.

No reason for the Firefight one … I mean who wants to join a match that is max of 30 mins near the end >.> Unless they make Firefight classic it serves no purpose …
