Solution to Farming

I think a good solution for the farming problem would be the target locator from Halo: Reach which a player could use to call in an airstrike in order to clear farmers. Considering that the Memories of Reach update will be coming soon, 343 could introduce the target locator as a req in Warzone. With this, a player from the team that is being farmed could cloak up, sneak past enemy players, and be able to paint a target on the enemies from behind. This would give incentive to players to just finish off the game rather than prolonging the game by farming the other team. I would like to know what other players think about this solution.

When being spawn killed it is nearly impossible to get above req level three. Therefore adding a weapon that would most certainly need to be a higher req level is not practical. What 343 could do immediately is once the three bases have been captured is to speed up the point accumulation for holding said bases. The team would reach 1k points much quicker, ending the game. I believe that this would require minimal tinkering from 343.

No way they would add a target designator! That would WRECK balancing!

If they had a spawn room you could choose when triple capped that was protected by shield doors it would help. Similar to what Halo Reach had for Invasion.

No… just… no… About all they can do is put in a mercy rule, or forfeit option or core self destruct option something like that.

All you I would have to do to escape farming is:

  1. buy the level 6 or higher target designator (because it will be high level req)
  2. buy the level 3 camo
    3.sneak out the front of my base that the entire enemy team is watching
  3. and simply paint the target?
    That sounds so simple when you put it like that.

Alternatively they could just tweak the search system so that teams are matched against teams if they are available.

No…no airstrikes! In my opinion that is just awful and sounds terrible! People would use that to farm kills more often, it’s not like a server will understand when a team is being farmed or not. But that’s just my opinion, maybe they could make it work.

There is another option: Get rid of the entire Req system. Allow player to unlock armor and other customization items through achievements and commendations.

Then out the window with free dlc, also reqs have nothing to do with farming, the achilles is the problem, the armor earned by gasp commendations!

Because that doesn’t stop those who are farming for Achilles or those who farm purely for stats.

What meaningful content has 343i released thus far? What extra content have they put out that wasn’t standard in any of the previous base games? Unfortunately, the idea of free DLC (for most publishers and developers) has become an excuse to implement microtransactions, and “promise” low quality content, or content carved out of the main game before release.

I would prefer paid DLC (created and sold after release, mind), because it would actually give 343i an incentive to make something of value.

As for earning stuff through commendations, The Achilles armor is the perfect example of how not to do commendation unlocks. I was mostly referring to the system from Halo 4. For everything that it got wrong, Halo 4 did armor unlocks right. Much of the armor was available from the start, and getting new ones was not an insane grind-fest: Complete the campaign on various difficulties; earn X number of a specific medal; select a character class and earn 10 SR; etc.

The requirements for Achilles are ridiculous, and do encourage the farming practices that people find so distasteful. Also, it’s one of the few armor sets that players can “earn” without having to rely on a bloated RNG system.

I would rather see turrets part of the home base that only go active and can be destroyed by opposing team once they capture all bases for better defense. Also make them tough so a couple shots from a tank would be required, that or a lot of bullets.
A little better spawn system if possible. Along with a safe spawn zone where the enemy can’t access, or access easily.
A core self-destruct option that can only be used if the enemy captures all bases, base turrets are destroyed, a certain amount of time that has elapsed and 50% or more of the active players need to vote yes at the respawn menu. Otherwise players would just self destruct it before all the time. The self-destruct system needs a count down so the other team can still destroy the core if they are trying to do so.

Back door on bases. Apex has one, it’s the only one that does, totally changes the farming dynamic
