Solution to Championship Bundle

So after seeing so many threads about “how the championship bundle should be free to wargame pass users” i have come to a solution.

NOTE I own the wargames pass but do not think this new bundle should be free

So, for my solution, i think 343 should allow the people who had initially bought the war games pass a free week to play on the new maps, just like how they let those who didnt buy the war games pass play for a week. This allows players to see if it’s worth buying.

Some people may complain that it would be unfair to favor the wargames pass users, but I have a solution for that too. From monday-friday morning, all war games pass users are allowed to play the new maps, and then starting friday afternoon the content becomes free to everyone for the remaining weekend.

First, this gives everyone a FREE chance to play on the maps and decide if they’d like to pay for it all or would just like the armor and skins. Secondly, in my opinion, it gives the War Games pass users a little more appropriate thank you for having so much trust in 343.

Vote above to decide if this is a good idea or not and maybe 343 will think about doing this

No.

There is absolutely no reason for these maps to be free to anyone, including War Games Map Pass owners (which promised the first THREE map packs, nothing else).

If people want to see what the maps look like before purchase, watch some videos that are going to be released by 343i.

i suggested this because 343 allowed people who didnt even buy the first maps initially to play on them for free and there was a big commotion on the forums about it. This would simply be a more organized way of doing it. I’m not saying they would be free to play for forever but just for the week or weekend.

Are you referring to the Crimson Map Pack ‘14 day trial’?

Notice how that hasn’t occurred again for both Majestic & Castle DLC?

Why would it happen now?

um same random reason as to why they did it the first time

it’d be a good way to try and draw in more players back to the game. When the 14 day free trial was going the population had a nice rise. Since the population has been suffering it’d be smart to get more players to come back. 343 wouldn’t lose money so i don’t see why this wouldn’t be a good idea?

I agree with Moa. The confusion with the Crimson map pack was more of a fault by the XBL Marketplace staff rather than 343. All 343 did was produce the product, it was the Marketplace staff who were in charge of how it was released to the general public. 343 had to cover for a mistake that wasn’t even theirs by giving the “free trial”.

oh ok i didnt know it was due to the marketplace, thanks for clarifying. Still, if they were able to do it, it’d be a good way to get more players to return.

I’m pretty sure studies have shown that demos actually lower sales.

Right, I’ll put this into perspective for you.

The Crimson Map Pack releases, and suddenly (without any announcement prior) everyone can download it for free.

Multiple hours later, 343 Industries post an article up on Halo Waypoint claiming that they are doing a 14 Day Trial for the Crimson Map Pack.

After those 14 days are over, a Title Update is released which updates the game to version 1.02.01 . No announcement was made of this title update or what it did, but it was eventually found out that it revoked access to the Crimson Map Pack for those who didn’t pay for it (minus War Games Map Pass users obviously).

Now tell me - why wouldn’t they announce a 14 day trial well in advance?
Why would they choose to announce it multiple hours after the map pack is available for download?
Why wouldn’t they announce what the title update did?
Why would they not continue it for the Majestic & Castle Map Pack?

I’m not one to assume this hugely, but as far as I can see, someone on Microsoft’s end goofed when putting the Crimson Map Pack up for download via the Halo 4 menu for War Games Map Pass owners and then to cover themselves, 343i quickly made up the ‘14 day trial’.

I’m not the only one who thinks this, and hey, it might not be the truth, but it certainly explains all of the above.

So with that said, do you think they’d do another ‘14 day trial’ when the first one wasn’t even planned?

k i’m guessing you didn’t see my post about how i didnt know the marketplace messed up and thanked the person for clarifying that for me. Also, i did not say 14 days, i said a week, and it doesn’t even have to be that much, could just be the weekend. Also, can you explain what the cons of this would be if they did it? If you say it’s because demos lower sales and they’d be worried no one would buy it then you are saying 343 is not confident in what they made. The reasons why demos lower sales are most likely because the products are terrible.

343 has made their fair share of mistakes and they know that. Another big mistake could ruin the remaining population, so why not do it just to be safe?

I started replying before the other person made that post, hence why I didn’t see it until after I posted.

Either way, they never planned the first one and had no interest in doing such a ‘trial’ for the Majestic & Castle DLC.

Let’s look back at the Crimson DLC, every player had access to the ‘14 day trial’, yet once it was finished, the DLC playlist numbers were still awfully low.

What makes you think people will buy the DLC all of a sudden, purely because they get to trial it?

You’re basing this entirely off assumptions.

It’s $10…for everything…if you don’t want it don’t buy it.
I don’t see what all the talk/complaints are about.
People will always feel a sense of false entitlement for whatever is being sold, and will want it for free for whatever reasons.
It won’t be free, so either buy it and enjoy or don’t…

ok @aborted enigma. I clearly stated that I don’t think it should be free, i just thought of this solution for the people who are complaining.

@ Little Moa, just because the playlist is low doesn’t mean the amount of people who actually ended up buying it was low. Perhaps the people just didn’t feel like playing on only 3 maps with the same game types, especially after 2 weeks.

Also, by having a trial, 343 is saying “hey we don’t want to screw you over if you don’t actually like the maps.” They can’t afford to piss off the community again, so it would be a safe thing to do. Can you please explain to me, Little Moa, how the cons of this out weigh the pros?
