Solo Campaign Dissapointment

So, unlike most, I don’t live on these forums nor do I spoil myself from games through video feeds, etc., Today, I picked up my XBox One Halo 5 Guardians LTD. that I have been waiting since XBOX one launch to buy solely because of my love for Halo (and its hefty price tag). I decided to break my little rule and just see a little of what will be waiting for me as my new system downloads the game, on the the 27th. To my utter dismay:

Solo Campaign will always have a fire team either AI or Friends. I am confused, did the definition for solitary / solo change in the dictionary? Who thought this would be a good idea? Why does it seem like games these days are going to the “you always need help, and we can’t have people soloing our content” ways of developing?

Yes, I read the maps are supposed to be bigger with a campaign twice the size of Halo 4, but now, I as well as teammates can be revived constantly with no worry of being downed, except that if I don’t utilize my time in a micromanage driven environment, I then have to start back at the last checkpoint? This was bad during Halo 2 on Legendary, which I was allowed to Solo if I wanted (and did), and now I have to worry about an AI that hopefully will be smart enough to not get shot? How is this going to be fun? When Reach introduced some of this as well as ODST I shook it off knowing it would only be for a short while like all the others before them, but this will be for the whole campaign? What have you done to my Halo Universe? What have you done to the story that “is” Master Chief?

Spartan Ops, did the first season or whatever its called on Legendary solo, but it was clearly designed for more than one player based on enemy health and numbers. But I lost my drive after completing it, knowing it would just be a grind for me as a solo player.

I thought Halo 4 was a good game, not as touching as Reach, or CE,2, or even 3…but at least it was still an epic journey as a lone Spartan against impossible odds. I did see the overwhelming negative reviews with the MCC which I have been waiting to play as well with the purchase of this XBox one. This is not a good sign.

343 and you Old Bungie Employees…it better be good, or you will have destroyed this franchise, as many felt you did with Halo 4. My suggestion, find a way to implement a patch, that allows for truly solo play, and guess what? Even with the bigger maps, it will be a little more open world.

Man, I wish I could be so oblivious that I’d drop $250 without doing even the slightest bit of research beforehand.

so let me get this straight you are complaining that you cant play without your fireteam AI because if they die you have to revive them?

what if you just left them on the ground dead…now you are soloing

If you really hate the A.I that much then you could just ignore them and let them die so they don’t get in your way. But honestly…

PS Halo 4 was awesome haha

Why is this a problem? If you really wanted then you could just let them drop, or turn the iron skull on, if you are really that confident that you don’t need their help. And, no the story is not Master Chief, introducing new characters that were always part of the lore is a good thing, regardless of how narrow-minded you want to be about it. Also, you’re complaining about this, when there have been far worse things like insanely op Jackal snipers in the past, were those fun to you?

From What I’ve seen, the A.I do get shot a lot on Legendary, but will largely revive each other. Regardless of whether they’re good at surviving or not, they don’t seem to get in your way much if at all, which is the most important thing in AI companions

Not compared to any of the other halos. I’ve played all the halo’s and I have to say that bungies are still better maybe not in multiplayer but I don’t play that Except when I was in college.

It’s your own opinion whether you like it or not, you may not let it, but it will not convince me to not buy the game

Squad-based mechanics in Halo’s campaign is a step forward in my opinion, but if you can’t stand the thought of having the legendary Blue Team (and Buck) following you around, then just tell them to huddle in a corner for… Tactical reasons… While you head off and do your thing, and if they try and follow, tell them to take cover until you clear out the room. But then don’t tell them when you’ve finished clearing out the room :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

First no I am not, second you can’t because you start back at the last checkpoint. Please read the entirety of the post.

Thank you for not contributing maturely.

No you can’t maybe you need to research a little better as well. Again, first sentence, not something I live on, have a real life, family etc., The whole point is not the Xbox One, it’s the game itself and where games are headed. But thanks for not understanding that and further contributing to trying to make everyone an angry mess on the forums instead of having a mature guided discussion.

somehow I doubt Legendary will be made any easier as a result of a team

The campaigns are significantly better with 343i…Bungie did what they needed to just get by. Look at Destiny.

My gripe about fireteams is not about gameplay, but the story atmosphere. There’s not going to be anymore completely solitary levels that create that atmosphere of desperation or isolation. Plus, for gameplay reasons, it’s quite likely that all of the main characters are going to survive from start to end, or else there would be no way to coop the entire campaign.

I didn’t say anyone shouldn’t. A bunch of replies where my post is half read and understood, and that assumptions made. I am starting to think the forums really are a place for children. To be clear, I am not calling you specifically a child.

I am excited for the best campaign yet.

You are probably correct (I hope so) but as I said, its no longer as “epic”. Late last night I learned as well, Master Chief will have a very small as well.

Hope you are right.

And I just learned MC will have a small role.
