So can we be done with these yet? They’ve been a detriment to the game since day one, I figure almost three years later we can finally be rid of them. Let’s finally do this right and not give people a death penalty for going anywhere they can jump or jetpack to. Punishing smart play is just about the most bass-ackwards approach you could take to game design.
Won’t be hard to just head on into the default MM and Firefight maps and remove the soft kill boundaries (AKA No Fun Allowed Zones). Fix it up. If anyone at 343 is still interested in improving the game experience.
Speak of specifics. Because generally, soft kills are needed in MPMM. What specific areas do you think should be allowed?
bad idea, an no 343i dont care at all about this game

Although replacing the Multiplayer map kill zones won’t be so hard to do (although would take a pretty long time), Firefight Maps would require a Title Update to change as you can’t just hop into Forge and change them.
It isn’t worth it to be honest, the only planned update for Reach is another consolidation sometime in the future.
I dont think the idea is good at all. The reason why kill boundaries are there in the first place is to keep you in the map. Extra soft kill zones were already added to maps like Hemmorrage to beat the Jetpackers who were breaking map boundaries in the first place to gain advantage. Hemmorrage is still full on places you can jetpack up to and lord it over the whole map with the sniper.
You then also have the problem with the HLG noobs breaking maps to hide. Who wants to play games running around for 15 minutes looking for players hiding who are trying to preserve their KD spread because they got matched against a full party.

Breaking map boundaries? Like getting outside the map? Aren’t there just insta kill zones there? Besides, I’m talking within the map.

Which, of course, there’s nothing wrong with. They’re just playing the game.

Breaking? In what way? If they’re using glitches then you should file a complaint under that category.
> Who wants to play games running around for 15 minutes looking for players hiding who are trying to preserve their KD spread because they got matched against a full party.
Well if they’re just using it as a method to combat another broken system you can’t really blame them. Besides, they’ve got a legitimate strategy. I know they want to dumb down gameplay to whack-a-mole with guns for the kids, but at this point might as well just let things chill so long after release.
But it’s Firefight where the worst problems are, not Multiplayer.
343 doesn’t care about Reach.
Jetpacking up to the top of the cliff in Hemorrhage with a sniper rifle is quite game-breaking, just to name 1 example.
I cannot imagine the number of exploits maps will have if soft-kill boundaries were removed. It will do more harm then good, if any good at all.
And anyways, Firefight is bad enough as is. Heck, all it does is encourage boosting with Arcadefight being spammed all the time.
I will have to agree with Moa, Firefight maps would be a serious undertaking to fix. I highly doubt that 343i would do another title update for Reach.
