So how does it work that my friend and I qued for Halo CE doubles. He got in but it errors out on me and now I have a 5 minute ban and he left the game to rejoin me and he gets away scotch free.

Its weird but the game doesnt seem to differentiate between quitting and being booted out from an error. Happened twice to my friend a few days ago and it was kinda funny actually

In MCC if half of your team leave the game you’re able to leave without punishment. Essentially you don’t have to play a match where you just get stomped.
Since you were playing doubles, you not being in the game counts as half the team leaving - therefore your friend being able to leave without punishment.
