Social true skill but no actual ranks

Okay theres no ranking system Ex: 1-50 or Bronze-Onyx. BUT there is a very strong true skill in every playlist.

I’m playing social. Every playlist is social. I level up my SR whether I win or lose or if I play spartan ops or custom games. So why am I being put against good players every single game. I literally have to try my balls off every game. What happened to playing guests, which I have played one time on halo 4 out of like 150 games. I’m playing social infinity slayer I dont want to try my hardest every game.

And don’t get me wrong I enjoy playing good players when I choose to ex: ranked halo 3 or Arena in Reach. But if I’m playing social slayer, where I still level up for losing, then I’d like to have casual games where I can just play and not have to play like I’m on the main stage at a MLG event.

And riddle me this 343 forums. What exactly is the true skill based off of? KD and your SR level? Or is it based off wins? And if I play with a friend who just got the game then what? Are we going to match people who win as much as me and/ or have a similar sr/kd. Or are we going to play new players like him. If we match my true skill how would it be fun for him to play halo 4?

My solution, drop true skill in social like it was in reach and halo 3. Add ranked playlists or something like Arena.

I agree, but you should post it in this thread:

The true skill for me seems to have kicked in now, I wasn’t in games where I was sat at the top of the leaderboard with 30 kills. the SR rank hasn’t got anything to do with the true skill as it is just a progression rank not a skill rank.

For example player X could be SR-50 having played it 24/7 but still not be very good

However player Z could be SR-15 having played a few hours but be top of the team 90% of the time.

A visible rank will make its way in game next year once it has been completed and is accurate.

Alright, this is the first time posting on these forums. Ill post it there, thanks.

@Blink, sorry Idk how to quote people on here.

Having a visual rank like a 1-50 or Bronze-Onyx isnt my complaint. It would be nice to have them but it’s fine without one. But, this probably sounds bad, I just want to play middle of the road players or bad players or guests more often. I dont want to try like its 50 high or top % onyx. And I dont want to play awful players every game, just like I dont want to play really good players every game.

Basically I want social to be social.

Yeah, I agree with OP completely. I personaly prefer playing the ‘try hards’ all day but that’s just me. Even I think there NEEDS to be a fine line between Social and Rank. Otherwise, just like I saw it in halo:reach. Every new plays experince is going to be what it’s like to come off spawn every 2 steps their spartans take.

That’s not how you keep players coming back for more. Lol

They already announced this come Early next year you will have a rank 1-50. This rank WILL be different than your SR. It will be posted to the left side of your name just like in halo 2. That will be based off the outcome of the game along with ranked playlists. Hope that helps.

The matchmaking in Halo 4 (I firmly believe) is derived from much of the same code as Halo: Reach. In game, several of the same tell-tale glitches in Reach I’ve found in Halo 4 - including vehicles glitching and flying into walls, players getting assassinated and walking away, etc.

I also believe they’ve taken social matchmaking from Reach and put it into Halo 4. In Reach, each specific playlist has a hidden player rank. It’s likely based on things such as K/D ratio and other player statistics. So a player who does well in a playlist (lots of kills, low deaths, lots of medals) will be matched up against players who have the same stats. And the more you play, the more it accurately matches you up against these players.

I agree that while it might be fair, it needs to be changed. It should be inherently more random, like in Halo 2 or 3. If you want to bring guests in, they are forced to play higher-caliber opponents and it leads to games which are always very similar to each other and mundane.

I think they should have a few playlists with invisable true skill for now, until actual ranked playlists are released. And then make the rest have no true skill like Reach and H3 was.

I’m a competitive Halo player. I had multiple 50s and was high percentile Onyx on Reach. But if I’m playing social, especially social where everyone levels up for LOSING, then I dont want to be playing above average players every single game. And its like this in every playlist I play: infinity slayer, ctf, btb infinity slayer.

It’s really annoying playing people that are as good or better then me every game no matter the playlist. And like I’ve been saying it’s annoying because its all social, you rank up for >READ<:LOSING.

If I go into MM with friends who arent good at halo and they get paired up with high skilled players because of MY true skill, how is that going to be fun for them OR me to play with them? Am I expected to play on a different account or just not play with friends who arent that good or lose every game because my friends arent good? And why would they want to keep playing Halo 4 when their first impression of the game is going 0-15 and not being able to get a kill because of MY trueskill in SOCIAL playlists.

LMAO, obviously you have no idea what your talking about, as is evident with the “How does it …” questions.

As anyone who has played Halo 3 SHOULD be able to tell you, both Ranked and Social playlists has trueskill matchmaking. The only difference was that Ranked showed you a number value.

This is extremely noticeable if you were to create a new account in Halo 3. Whether you played Ranked or social, if you were a relatively skilled player it would not take very long until you stopped getting matched against players who seemingly had no idea what they were doing.

Trueskill ranking is based on a mathematical equation involving several variables that change with respect to the values of your competitors. Mainly wins are taken into account.

So the basic point I am trying to make is, if you don’t like playing against people of a similar skill level, you’re -Yoink- out of luck!

This isn’t Reach or COD.

Lol, I actually laughed. There was absolutely no true skill in social on Halo 3. I had a general in rumble pit and team dlc. And I would match bad players pretty much every game. Even in Team DLC which had a small population I would rarely match anyone that could aim. So I guess by going into social slayer and matching a team of of and two of the three were guests every other game is a good representation of true skill.

Even in ranked team slayer which I had a 50 with a five star for exp on it I would still match “average” players 8/10 games. AND that DID have true skill, obviously.

So if YOU dont know what youre talking about you should become more informed first

I’m pretty good at this game so I don’t really care but just be happy your playing this game and get better fast

haha trust me bud, Halo 3 social had true skill in it. Search it, then come back and talk. The only difference was a lot of the time the better players played ranked, so when they did venture into social you would -Yoink- on kids.
