Social Playlists

So I’m sure this topic has been brought up in the past but with the recent updates I would like to bring it up again. I feel that there needs to be a normal social playlist. One that consists of the arena game types and map settings, or even the hcs settings or just simply slayer . (strongholds, ctf, slayer) All these special game modes like H3 throwback, action sack, etc. are fun and certainly have their place, but why is it impossible to just play a regular game of halo that is unranked? It doesn’t make sense. 343 has been putting a ton of effort into improving the game experience even this late into the release which is why I feel that this is something that could greatly improve the over all experience of h5.

From what i have read. They took it out because of population and from what my friends mentioned. The issue was that team skirmish was a sweatfest.

343 never said anything about it being a “sweatfest” in Team Skirmish. It was all about consolidating Team Arena, Team Slayer, and HCS a little more. Now we have more players in those playlists, and we are better for it.

There nothing wrong with playing ranked. I get that there is a lack of Social, but I am fine with playing only Ranked. The matches are more balanced anyway. In Social the MMR is more loose, and that’s part of the reason why Team Skirmish was not as “social” as some thought it would be.

I agree with you in principle, Beer and Skoal, but unfortunately, I think DaxSeven is right. Regardless of why Team Skirmish was consolidated away, the Social Playlists are all incredibly sweaty most of the time, regardless of their content because there’s no incentive for competitive players to keep playing ranked playlists once they hit their ideal rank. Say you’re a competitive player and you manage to hit Diamond or Onyx or whatever in a ranked playlist. Are you going to keep playing that playlist knowing that you might lose that choice rank? Or are you going to call it a season and move on to playlists where you can dominate (or get dominated) with zero consequences? Hell, I’m an entirely average-to-awful player, but somehow managed a Gold 1 in Team Arena this season. I’m not touching that playlist until the next season. I don’t want to lose what, for me, is a great rank! Which I realize is silly since the ranks are meaningless, but it’s a pride thing. I’m sure it’s no different for someone with mad skills.

Just means those of us social gamers struggling to achieve a positive KR most matches are never going to have a truly social playlist, as long as Halo is, at its core, a competitive game. Which it is. Gotta find your groove and enjoy it. Or play a lot of Firefight.

BTB is pretty much the only permanent Social playlist that offers traditional slayer and objective gametypes. Dr Menke in the MM feedback threads offered a suggestion of combining ranked and social together, but I doubt that’s anywhere close to getting done if they’re even doing that.

Halo BTB is not what it used to be. To be honest, Halo 4 did that amazingly well. Halo 5 excels on the smaller teams and maps.

I agree I loved team skirmish it was really helping me to improve and not get totally destroyed when going into ranked playlist, I never ever ever struggled to find a game , if anything I think it was overpopulated and probably making the ranked team arena playlist under populated . Just do what everyone else does create a smurf account and play ranked as much as you like knowing that it doesn’t matter to you !!!

I still think we should have it. The population problem shouldn’t matter because that should mean that people just don’t want to play competitive all the time. So leave those playlists to people who want to sweat. I like playing comp, but I often just want to warm up you know?
