Holy crap social is way more competitive than ranked. I am decent in ranked slayer with a positive KD and normally between 10 to 20 kills. So I decided to try a few social games to get some easy kills and to my surprise got whooped by players with serious skills. I guess all the really good players are trying to farm the noobs there. I’m going back to ranked games where I can compete. Lol.
Is there like a negative MMR in ranked or something? Maybe I should get it because social stomps me all the time too
Thank the game counting our overall K/D & W/L ratio on social playlists. I wish 343i will just remove stat tracking in social playlists to reduce the amount of frustration and deal with those tryhards farming noobs just to boost their K/D & W/L ratio.
I find social team skill is lower but individual skill is all over the place. Ranked individual skill is low but team skill is higher. (Generally)
I actaully play ranked for a easy going experience to play some thing easier than warzone. Funny thing is I see really high ranked players in warzone that are terrible at it.
There were a lot of good teams playing social last time I played

I feel that anytime someone mentions the separation of social and arena stats, it just goes in one ear and out of the other.
Halo plays competitively in any playlist IMO. Players play to win. Isn’t ironic that you went into social with the intent of “easy kills” and found some players who where a bit better who probably had the same idea…

I had that idea in my head. I was deciding which I was going either A or B. I opted for A over B. Chances are, some people will still pad on their stats on due to the social stat sticking out right next to our competitive stat. But hey! At least people won’t gloat about their stats thanks to it being in social.

There’s more to it than that. It’s not just single players looking for easy kills; we have teams in social playlists trying to pub-stomp and stat-pad. And it’s not just the players affecting the atmosphere of social, either. For example, the radar’s range is still 18 (inches) despite the fact that it’s social, not arena. To be honest, the only real difference between team arena and team skirmish is that the former has tiers/divisions, and the later is ironically more competitive because of competitive players turning it into a paradox.

Sounds like some are just salty about good players playing social. Social is no ranking involved so yeah you may face players of higher skill. If you want games against players of your skill play ranked. They should have separate stats for ranked and social but I doubt that would stop good players from playing social.
Thats why BTB is ruined after this last update. Before it was hidden ranked which meant i played people of my same skill level, now all the pub stompers ruin the experience for everyone else. Worst part is that this is what the halo community whined about to get, so 343 did it. Simple fix would be to include ranked and social BTB.

The only real difference is one is suited for competitive play and the other was just thrown at those who dislike ranked play. 343 actually out time into team arena when it comes to changing its weapon sandbox on those TA maps.
@everyone in general:? what do people expect though in all honesty? Just cuz a mode has no rank you think it’s going to be cake walk games? The whole purpose of non ranked modes is to not worry about ranks and k/d, it’s not there to decrease you getting beat by other players lol.

I don’t understand this mentality that social means easy kills. No, social means no need to concern yourself with rank.
Everybody thought adding social was going to be the be all end all, and make the game great, but in the end it is just like any other playlist. There is a possibility of being stomped and stomping.

Are you guys 100% sure that hidden ranks were scrapped? Can you point me to this in print from 343? I’m not saying you’re crazy, but to my knowledge there has almost never been a truly random matched social playlist in Halo. The difference in outcome between hidden rank, looser search parameters on the one hand and random match on the other is probably almost non-existent, but I still have a very hard time imagining that they would random match under any circumstance. If only because it would produce threads (and inequity and indiginity) like this in spades. And how could that be good for business?
I think the problem is going into social looking for “easy kills”. Just because it’s a social playlist doesn’t mean people shouldn’t try to win or do well.

Many months ago (I think during a week where Social Slayer was the rotating social playlist), 343i said they were toning down skill-based matchmaking in social games. I can’t find the post, despite having looked for it, but I specifically remember seeing it somewhere and being disappointed. So I don’t think hidden ranks or whatever skill tracker they use in social were scrapped, but I do think their priority in matchmaking is low.
I’m just happy that 4v4 Social obj/slayer has been added to the game. I play solo a lot, and at higher ranks its hard to get good games solo because there are so many teams playing.
At least with Social its unranked. I spend most of my time half watching a podcast and half playing.

Lol funny thing is I use to play by all the time. And it would show my highest rank in waypoint as btb.

When btb was a ranked playlist it was fairly easy I was in daimond and after they made it social it got harder cause of fullman teams becoming more common. This was way before the 6 man limit. Full teams had always been a problem in btb but people like to think its worse now when it’s been that way for ages.
I have not come across that problem recently.
Sounds like you’re under-ranked lol.
