Social Does Not Exist In Halo 5

Now, I’m sure that many of you have played in some of the so called social playlists. There are three permanent ones. And as some of you may have noticed, competition can be very good in these social playlists. There is a reason to this. If you check the service record for players on waypoint, you can see what their top CSR is, and in what playlist that CSR is in. As I was checking, I noticed that some players too CSR was in a SOCIAL playlist! One person I saw was a diamond 4 in social fiesta. Another was an onyx in Valentine Double Date. So what does this mean? This shows that halo 5’s system does not support social playlists. A social playlist is basically just a playlist that is a competitive playlist, but with the rank hidden in game. So it will still match you up against players in your skill level, and once again, everyone, including myself, end up going try hard. And to make matters worse, these games in the social playlist count towards your win/loss ratio and kd. Why do they count towards those ratios? They’re supposed to be social. Just for fun. Playlists where you can just kick back and relax without worrying about stats. And if you’re as competitive as I am, then you really care about stats. I do hope 343 finds a way to fix this and make social like actual social.

TLDR: Social playlists are just skins of arena playlists with the rank hidden in game.

343i needs to learn that simply adding “Social” to a game mode or playlist doesn’t make it so. Not banning players for quitting and disabling the KDA would be a start. Social is meant for a more casual experience, not against tryhards who want to pad their KDA against more casuals or punishing people for qutting a match that wouldn’t effect their own or anyone else’s CSR.

I’ve seen a guy’s top CSR as Champion in a social playlist before, back during the holidays.

Social playlists in past halos also had hidden rank that matchmaking was based on.

Just like it was in the other Halo games.

Top CSR is grifball

If they didn’t do this, then you’d have onyx players against bronze players in social. The only to actually make it social is to add more players and make it hip and they did that. How else would you make it social?

Yep this is by far the most disappointing thing in Halo 5 to me, I was so excited for social to come to this game, and finally be able to relax from the hyper competitive ranked matches. But NOPE every social match I play is nothing but Onix/Champion players

That’s how Social Playlists have always been in Halo, It was random matchmaking not this Skill based garbage, And guess what, barely anyone ever complained about it. Cause It worked

This should be a thing.

Removing KDA or K/D stats in general from Social would make it much more social IMO. I’d go in doing all sorts of casual, wonky stuff and not care about crippling my K/D… and actually have fun vs. being constantly stressed out

If I was a bronze/silver, I wouldn’t want to be put in a match against diamond/onyx players. The only thing they should change about social is disable stats (kd, win/loss).

I completely agree with you. No stats will actually make it feel social.

Except that it was based on random match ups. You weren’t going to only get ranked up with 40s or 50s if you were a 50 in halo 3 social.

Tons of people complained when organized teams ran around in social big team in Halo 3. Why does no one remember that?

The problem is all the decent players who play for real stopped playing customs. Remember when people used to play MLG customs all the time? This was their ‘social’ playlist, where people could play without worry. Now, I haven’t seen anyone just running regular arena games in customs, so for them, it’s either Ranked Arena to try hard, or go into social and not try as hard.

I used to be all about MLG and I never remember playing a social playlist with anyone who played ‘seriously’.

LOL no it wasn’t.

You had a hidden social rank that worked exactly like your “ranked” rank.

The reason it’s not social is because no one goes with a social mentality. All I have to do is bring a team with a “competitive” mentality, and anyone with an equal or lower skill than us will have to adopt the same mentality or lose horribly.

And if a team of Onyx players ended up going against Bronze players (which is what you and most people want apparently), then rest assured that Social becomes “social” for the high levelled players.

How do you check what your rank is in social playlists? I dont see anything that says a rank for the social ones.

If halo 3 had a hidden rank too, then it was very lenient. I was a 50 and id match all sorts of ranks. I find it hard to believe it had hidden rank. I matched 30s and below all the time.

So according to you, being a social playlist means you have to have random matchmaking? Do you even know what the word social means?

Why would you want random matchmaking?? I see so many people demanding this for social playlists, and it just seems so stupid. Wouldn’t you find the game more enjoyable if its with people of roughly your own skill level? I think many of you just want to be able to faceroll other players while claiming that youre ‘not even trying because its social’.

Not to mention that if you are in the lower half of the CSR curve (and many players who I see making these demands are in the lower half), random matchmaking guaruntees that most of the time you will play against players who are better than you. If you are Silver and are matched with a random set of players, most of the time those players will be, on the whole, better than you. How do you not see this? How will it be more enjoyable for you to mostly play against much better players than to mostly play against similar level players? That just doesn’t make any sense.

Social doesn’t (shouldn’t) mean that you can faceroll everyone. It means there is no ranking on the line and you can play the game how you see fit (work on commendations, try things just for the lols, etc ), and team up with friends even if you are massively different in your csr (which many people avoid in ranked play). Just don’t expect that the other team isn’t trying to kill you, because they have the right to play the game how they see fit as well.
