I don’t understand the overwhelming opposition to a ranking system. If you don’t care for rank than you do not have to participate in ranked games, and can play the social ones, which could match you based on the “invisible skill level.” Why are people making it seem as if it is bad to cater to both desires of gamers? and posters feel the need to condescend anyone seeking a ranking system.
Everyone has and is entitled to their likes and dislikes. To some the addition of a rank system is amazing. To others it is not. Simple as that.

I agree and Rukizzel, first time I’ve seen you on the forums. You don’t come on much do you?
People may not care for the ranks or make a big deal out of it, but there will be those who will. Attacks on people’s ranks and essentially silencing those people from voicing their concerns about the game was a big problem on Bungie.net and people STILL do it on Halo Waypoint occasionally. Now that itself isn’t good enough to ditch the concept entirely, but it isn’t something that can be ignored.
Implying people who don’t care for a rank system are casual gamers doesn’t help either.

Isn’t that a fault of having your gamertag a requirement to post your thoughts, so that information is accessible just as bad? so now others game playing experience has to suffer.

Yet the poster does not have to act on it nor is some arbitrary rank a requirement to post or share your thoughts. The rules posters agree to also prohibit flaming, which trying to tell someone they can’t talk about the game because of their rank is.
Everybody’s voice is equal.
I don’t oppose a ranking system, but I do however oppose the constant whining that comes from it. Ranks aren’t absolutely necessary like so many people seem to believe. Halo CE and PC got along fine without ranks and I still have some of my fondest multiplayer memories from PC online.
