So you think 343i screwed up Halo, huh?

Let us take a look back at a few things. For starters, yes, the multiplayer is definitely changed alot. That does irk some of us. But let’s look at a few other things:

They gave us Halo: Legends. The first time Halo made its way to film and gave us an actual image of what Forerunners LOOKED like. Plus it expanded the universe a bit.

They gave us the motion comics: The Return, Midnight in the Heart of Midlothian, The Mona Lisa and Headhunters. Come on guys, you have to admit that they were cool!

They gave us Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn. Finally, a live-action Halo series. We’re one step closer to making a Halo movie!

They gave us the Halo Encyclopedia! That was a cool book.

They gave us the Halo - Waypoint app for the Xbox 360. I know, they took away film rendering and vanity plates, but we still have to at least try to look at what they gave us.

They didn’t make buying Halo 4 too difficult to choose. Just a standard and a Limited Edition, no Legendary Edition. Thank the gods for that, I’d rather spend $100 on a game than $150!

New stuff for our avatars like Drop Pod prop, Warthog prop, Arbiter mask, Elite, Brute AND Flood costumes.

And finally, when have we ever seen a Halo game promoted so much and get so much material to purchase! Season Map Pass, Limited Edition of game, Limited Edition Console (it is still bad -Yoink-!), soundtracks, Limited Edition controller, guides, headsets, and of course Double EXP with Mt. Dew and Doritos.

Seriously, I hope 343i puts this much drive towards Halo into their future games as well! I mean, this is amazing! So instead of being mad about what we lose, let’s be happy about what we gain!

They’ll do great things for the universe, no doubt. I think the new story arch has a lot of potential.

But if you can’t make a good arena shooter multiplayer loyal to what makes Halo a fun and competitive game, the very thing that keeps people on the game for years and years, then it doesn’t matter how many books you write or apps you design. It’s all peripheral to me, MP AND Campaign need to be great for a Halo game to satisfy me.

All of this is true. However, if they do all of this and yet fail to make a satisfying multiplayer experience, then they have failed in doing what really matters, and the franchise will suffer accordingly. At the end of the day, the in-game experience trumps everything else, and no amount of other content can make up for an underwhelming in-game experience.

I don’t think they screwed up the actual Halo universe. I do however, think that they completely derailed the multiplayer experience.

Although the multiplayer has suffered, in the end if the campaign was wacked out, then I DEFINITELY would have been disappointed. But lo and behold, it was AMAZING! Prometheans are incredible, love the new weapons. Besides, I still own ALL of the Halo games and I go back every now and then to play the campaigns.

And look at Star Wars: The Force Unleashed I + II. Both are games with NO multiplayer at all (I’m referring to the XBOX 360 and PS3 versions) but I play that from time to time still because it was an amazing experience!

Halo always has and always will be a Great Journey. Multiplayer is fun but for me, is not a necessity. It is merely a bonus in my eyes.

When they screw up the story, then they will lose my faith in the games.

Those things are useless if the gameplay is -Yoink-.Don’t get me wrong,I love the lore and everything (or at least,I used to) but having good gameplay is the priority. It’s a game, after all.

Yea they did add on to the halo universe with all those things you listed. The reason why they did it is so they could just get more money.

I’d rather 343 use the budget for the FUD Web Series, to make a balanced multiplayer.

Infinity, ranked, and Classic

The story is fine, but the other big part of the game is multiplayer. That’s where 343 should’ve focused on

I love how nothing you mentioned has to do with actual gameplay. Like, I couldn’t care less about some f***ing comics! I want to play Halo!

Also, they did make choosing which game to buy difficult. They said they wouldn’t, but then things got tricky with pre-order bonuses, War Games map pack being sold alone, etc.

343i screwed up big time with Halo 4, especially in regards to Multiplayer.

> Yea they did add on to the halo universe with all those things you listed. The reason why they did it is so they could just get more money.

Yes, because thats what businesses do. They aren’t a charity, they don’t do things for free. they make a product, and earn money off that. how naive are you Lol

yea I don’t know about all these comics ,the live action was cool but I would like some more effort towards multiplayer and not these comics lol

People talk about gameplay and mechanics, not lore.

But yes, apart from forward unto dawn, they screwed the universe too. Halo legends was uninspired crap, and the begining of the great retcon of the story bungie had in mind.

Halo Legends was okay. The only good stories were the first and last one.

All of those were present when reach was coming out except the season map pass and Double xp.

WTF are you talking about. I never said they should give that stuff away for free. 343 and microsoft are only interested in how they can make more money

So halo only has multiplayer nothing else but matchmaking right? You think all of the prior halo games campaign where horrible right. Screw the people who play halo for the story and the universe. Only the multiplayer matters right? Do you even play custom games all the time, system link or local? I doubt you do, I am sorry but matchmaking will slow up like all the other games and stop like halo 2. You know what I enjoy playing games that are a decade old and still having the same experience. But you can’t do that you only play the game til the new one comes out. All matchmaking in its self is a gimmick. If this was before live like halo 1 would you even play custom games with friends. All I am saying is unlike you I want my game to be worth the money after matchmaking is over, you however seem to not want a game but a service.

We’ve heard what Ryan has to say about this. What about Amanda?

The only reason Halo2 MM stopped was because they shut down the servers :’(

Still not really relevant to the game. Everything listed does not have much if not anything to do with Halo 4 besides the double exp,; which is a joke considering people can just steal all the codes they want from Doritos.

The limited edition to me is a joke. They totally missed their chance to give me nice tidbits of information for the new Halo trilogy. I would like to know more about the Infinity’s specs, I would like to see classified reports on the augmentations of the new Spartans, any other random stuff. But instead we get a crappy infinity booklet with stuff I already knew, a crappy war games carnage report.

The only good thing that came of all that was the live action film.

But more importantly, absolutely nothing of that has to do with why people feel 343i dropped the ball.

This game sorely needed a beta. Bolt shot, broken maps and minor weapon imbalances are the clear evidence of that.
