So will there ever be a campaign able to top H3's?

Man was halo 5’s campaign terrible. Im still praying for a campaign DLC. And let me put this in context by saying the narrative and story. Halo 5 gameplay was great and i dig the whole open areas. But Halo 3 just had an amazing story and plot that just made me play it over and over. It was dark and climatic. It just made you really care about what was happened and why it was happening. I hope 343i takes a tip from bungie in that area.

EDIT: Actually i take that back, dont take a tip from bungie. I forgot they made Destiny…

I personally don’t like destiny but every time I watch an ad or gameplay I want to play it so bad, I think is because the mistery it has.

Um, you mean the one riddled with plot holes?

Well, to each their own. My favorite would be the H2:A experience with the amazing cutscenes and getting the opportunity to play the last Halo I wasn’t able to play before. I think all of them are amazing in their own rights, yet none have disappointed as much as H5 has with its story. Gameplay was fun, locations were beautiful, I didn’t mind not playing MC all the time (loved Reach), yet something didn’t really grab me like the previous titles did.

Campaign was a let down, MP is alright/ fun. All the other titles weren’t perfect as well, but I doubt anyone wouldn’t pick an older campaign as their favorite.

Yea thats how they get ya. Halo was guilty of the same thing with hunt the truth. Except way better gameplay

H6 presumably will if they decide to flesh it out rather than try to cram it into a smaller box thanks to crappy deadlines…

Halo 5 had the same 3 year deadline as all previous major Halo titles.

Not with 343 at the helm.

What plot holes are you talking about?

I liked the gameplay and all of halo 5, but I would rather have something like halo 2. Halo 5 felt like it was video game and not as immersive.

That’s kinda confusing so I’ll try to elaborate.

Halo 2 had it where it would feel like real life sort of and halo 5 has big hallways with different tunnels that would lead to the same place with different weapons in each tunnel. Also, you would know when you were going to get ambushed. There would be giant rooms with weapon caches littered around and it wouldn’t be surprising when prometheans teleported in.

Story wise, instead of having the Osiris run down the mountain, they should’ve had an exposition. They would introduce each character like they did with halo 2, introducing mc and the arbiter (if you can’t tell, I really liked halo 2). I think the main reason why we didn’t like the story was because the ads were better than the game. HtT and all those “traitor” trailers were awesome and got everybody hyped. The ad team needs to talk with the writing team on a weekly basis or something.

Halo 3 is also still my favourite part.

This is indeed, the real reason why no one liked it… 343 took the hype train too far…

Halo 3 is my favourite halo, I’m sorry, but Halo 2 is horribly overrated. The chief half of the story was weak, only the arbiter saved the story. I shouldn’t be called out as “wrong” like I was before because I wasn’t a huge fan of the most overrated campaign in the series.

I began to play Halo 3 because of that feeling of mistery and awesomeness, but is something halo will never be able to do again.

I think that’s marketing done right then.
MARKETING done right, I didn’t say anything else about the game was done right.
All jokes aside, it’s a good game, just not my tea.

While halo 3’s campaign was awsome, to me it’s not the best. The best for me would have to be the original campaign. It had expansive areas, lots of different enemy types, weapons, and most importantly told a well paced (in most areas) story. Halo 6 could definitely learn from the pacing problem in halo 5. But I have loved every halo campaign because they are all part of a story that is being told through many small details and outside of game lore, can’t wait to see where this series will end.

I think 3 was my favourite too, but maybe just because that’s the title I started Halo on.

I HATE how overhyped Osiris was…

Yeah, Halo 2, ODST and Reach.

2 had the best overall storytelling and mission design. It did so much to flesh out the universe of Halo, but it was cut off abruptly.

ODST had great characters, mystery, and atmosphere.

Reach had the epic “massive battle” scale of Halo 3 and had a dark, somber tone that worked well. It also has the best ending in all of Halo IMHO.

The game was overhyped and the story was disappointing but at the end of the day it’s still a fun game that I’m playing to this day.
