And does anyone here who is knowledgeable about all aspects of the Halo story line have any idea as to what might happen in Halo 5?
It is unknown at this point. Hopefully, when Season 2 of SpOps appears, which probably wont appear till late or early next year. Infinity crash lands on Installation 03 and Fireteams are scattered. That way, we won’t only be facing Storm Covies, but Flood.
I’d say there s a strong possibility of the Flood returning. Between the likely chance of the Flood coming from outside the galaxy to the probably still Flood-infested installation 07, they will likely return soon.
Just like the Primordial said over 100,000 years ago, humanity will soon be judged for the Mantle.
Hopefully. It got kinda lame when the Covenant and Promethean joined forces and thus not attacking each other, plus I miss my favorite space-zombies.
I want the floods back for Halo 5!!! And I would for sure buy the game even though I dislike current MM
The campaign would be worth it. But I just hope that they don’t make them as easy and stupid as Halo 3, but more between Halo 1 and Halo 2.

I just read about installation 07, seems to be the perfect place for a campaign
It seems pretty logical that they return. It’s just a matter of when.

EXACTLY. Especially considering the Flood is a Promethean creation, what better way for them to test humanity then release their favorite pet on us?
The Flood is not a Promethean creation… The Forerunners were wiped out by the Flood because they could not handle the outbreaks. Since they decided to wage war on the ancient humans without finding out the real intent of the Humans “attacks,” the Forerunners lost the one chance they had to save the galaxy and preserve their existence.
OT: Of course the Flood is coming back. It will most likely be the Humans final test to assume the mantle, to succeed where the Forerunners failed.
God I do hope so. It would be nice if 343i (assuming they bring the flood back in Halo 5/6) made the flood much more dark and fearsome than they were in the original 3 Halo titles.

Read the books moron.

He’s right. The Flood wasn’t a Promethean creation.
PROMETHEAN.
I believe you meant to say Precursor at any rate. In any case, Silentium states that the Flood are “degraded” Precursors, so they aren’t really Precursor “creations”.
either way I think the fact that they seem mystery is that part of the thing that makes them scary,
I want to fight the GRAVEMIND.
With the Didact loose (unconfirmed death) and the Janus Key it may be very possible that some of those Forerunner structures that are quarantined are rich with dormant Flood right around the corner.
I find it difficult to believe that they can be completely eradicated since its indicated that a single spore can kill a planet. Considering that the forerunners have kept specimens in storage for study, it will only take one of them to escape to cause the universe havoc.

I’m looking forward to season two.
They’ll be back. They are infested in multiple places still. Maybe even parts of earth still from when they crash landed in 3. Also, I don’t believe the Ark was 100% destroyed, as well as the other Halo installations having them in study chambers etc.
Boy I hope they make a return
If the Flood doesn’t return, I’d be surprised. Instillation 07 has several Graveminds on it! Perfect setting, and excellent way to introduce the Precursors as Flood are just another form of Precursor, albeit a tainted one.
The conclusion of the Forerunner Saga shows that there is a definite chance of the Flood returning.
The Precursors created/became the Flood (somewhat accidental, but they liked the results) and are now using this new form to cause chaos and misery, and ultimately… unity (peicing together things from Primordium: Unity could be the use of the Flood to create more Graveminds/Precursors). The Forerunners’ aggression surprised the Precursors, and now they vowed to make sure no creation rises to challenge them again.
Humanity is their last major creation. We need to take the Mantle. The Didact was the example of the Flood’s corruption and madness, making such a noble and powerful figure into a homicidal maniac.
