So why the sudden love for h5s mp?

It is hard for me to believe a single person ever had this reaction. H4 was awful and no amount of nostalgia beer goggles has ever changed that.

Same here. Once halo 5 came out (keeping in mind MCC was still a mess) I remember thinking, “well it doesn’t feel like classic halo, but whatever, I’ll take it - as long as it isn’t halo 4”

Edit: I still feel that H4 is far and away the worst entry in the series - never thought it was a good halo game.

Halo 5 MP was never bad.
But was it a good Halo MP? I personally don’t think so.

It definitely has its moments both good abd bad me personally the biggest good was wearying the rest of blue teams armor made like having them show up in 5 a bit more

Such a shame what H5 campaign did to blue team. I was so hyped to play with/as blue team, now we may never see them again in the games because 343 fumbled so bad.

I’m not sure bout that me personally they did get the family part of blue team right it’s subtle but you can notice it like when they finally meet cortona Linda actually almost steps in front of chief like a big sister helping her brother and even in the mission were we first play as them we see it too with Fred asking chief if he’s okay

Like it’s subtle but once you notice it it’s there

Halo 5 multiplayer always was great, the problem was the campaign

H5’s MP was always godlike, the grandads cried about the thrusting but the opinion was always that the campaign sucked but MP was great.
you probably just didnt realise it given those of us who liked it where not here complaining about it

H5 was the first game I liked since H3. It brought back alot of classic Halo aspects. For instance everyone starts equally instead of with loadouts like in Reach and H4. It expanded upon that though by giving everyone spartan abilities. It brought back fluid jumping and movement instead of feeling clunky like Reach and H4 and expanded upon it with the spartan abilities. The skill gap was higher than any Halo due to the pistol and movement. Also the HCS maps were up there with other great MLG maps from the past.

I’ll admit there wasnt much to do besides sweat ranked playlists. The social playlists were pretty barebones. There werent alot of maps and the non HCS ones were weak and had little variety. I did spend alot of time playing Warzone and customs using the Customs Browser.

H5 was a breath of freah air for alot of Halo fans after the disgrace of Reach and H4 multiplayer. It finally felt like the series had evolved for the first time since H3 but Infinite took steps back from there.

Also you can always spot someone who barely played H5 when they compare the lootboxes to other games. In H5 without spending a dime you’ll unlock everything available in the lootboxes for free within like 100 hrs of playtime

I didn’t mind reach mp or h4 mp that much but that’s personal opinion I loved the loadout option more in Spartan ops personally but I didn’t mind it that much overall

I love halo just the way it is, but I would like a change in the body type of halo infinite, I miss halo reach or halo 5 body type rather this thing from infinite.
I’m not saying is bad but I want reach or halo 5 body type.
And I know, no sense but I just wanted to give my point of view

And your welcome to that point of view my friend

Not sure how this is sudden. For the past few years it seems like (to me anyway) that the common view was everyone hated Halo 5’s campaign, but a good chunk of us quite liked 5’s MP.

I know it’s just surprising to see they just pop up now

Because a new Halo game came out.

One thing I noticed is the step back with emblem customization.

When Halo 5 launched we were forced to select from a few color palettes. After awhile it was updated that we could select our 3 colors.

Halo Infinite - back to color palettes.

Exactly this! Just like Infinite, most of the complaints about H5 were lack of content. There was a vocal community who disliked the emphasis on movement mechanics for sure too.

H5 had a healthier long term population than H4 by a long shot though and it only really started going down from where it had plateaued once MCC started being revived.

Honestly, there are always a ton of Halo players who are just playing whatever title is being actively worked on by the studio :grinning:

I was speaking more to the major fumble of the campaign in general, not necessarily to blue teams specific execution.

When we realized we took H5 for granted after playing broken Infinite.

If I had to take a stance like this myself, I would base it on how many ways Halo 5: Guardians appealed to me.

See, I’m not a truly multiplayer-driven guy. I can do it for a while, then I eventually burn out and everything starts to suck past there. If this situation happened to me in Halo 5 though, I had lots of options if I wanted to continue dumping lots of my useful time into the game:

If I wanted to, I could lobby up with some folks for some mythic warzone firefight and have a blast with PVE. I could take my risks with the Custom Games Browser and pray for that one functional lobby and then enjoy some community created content, like Speed Halo or Assassination Tower. Or better yet, I could go into a Forge lobby solo (or with friends) and make really cool stuff, like those silly ‘modded’ weapons or up-armored vehicles.

That was my experience with Halo 5, though. I could dump lots of time into it because it had lots of things to do. Halo Infinite, at least at launch and before the release of Forge (and to some extent Custom Games), doesn’t give me those same kinds of options.

With Halo Infinite, you’ve really got two options for player engagement. You have a campaign, which is a fantastic open-world experience that rarely ever plays the same way twice; and you have the multiplayer, which is limited to player-versus-player modes on a handful of maps with many modes either not implemented or in the works.

I loved the campaign and I still need to do a legendary run, and I think the multiplayer is fine, but I digress:

To make an actual point out of all of this, I would express love for Halo 5’s multiplayer in the context of what it offered as a whole, especially in contrast to Halo Infinite.

I love this game (most of the time), but there really isn’t anything to it that makes me want to come back. I can’t make or play custom modes without encountering frequent and annoying bugs, I can’t just sit back and shoot aliens in the face with my friends in good ol’ Firefight fashion, and I can’t even toy around with the notion of putting a house on a Scorpion tank in an editor. Stuff that I find fun just isn’t there.

That’s my take though. No hate for HI MP though, the gameplay itself is great even though the awful netcode and desync smears it in mud.
