You’re gonna look me in the eye and say that a system that exploits gambling addiction is better than a straightforward cash shop?
We’ll there is a trick with h5s packs
Because people just get used to things over time, no matter how awful or predatory it is. This has already been talked about at length but the cat ears pretty much sums up this phenomenon.
Community: “these prices are insane!” “This system is predatory!”
Community once they see something cool “this is exactly what the store should be used for!” “Meownlr”
Fans got used to the predatory lootboxes of Halo 5, so when Infinite came around with its transparent store people just couldn’t accept it. 343i basically conditioned people to support gambling, and ironically the Infinite system is kind of the opposite of that so 343i’s previous actions screwed them over with their current decisions.
I’ve always loved H5. In fact, it is what got me into Halo again. Played SWAT at my brother’s apartment during Christmas break and bought an Xbox One when I got back to school. Reached 152 and now here I am, somewhat underwhelmed with Infinite (mainly due to lack of content, ranked playlists, etc.)

I’m sure you’re referring to the fact that you can “earn” req packs? I don’t care. The majority of F2P games that feature lootboxes allow you to “earn” them, but they’re always designed to incentivize premium purchase. Whether that be through tangible gameplay buffs (didn’t halo 5 literally sell in game power in the form of single use reqs?), low odds for specific cosmetics, or carefully tuned scarcity in the earning process.
That’s actual predatory design.
Rose tinted glasses.
H5 was always one of my favorites, second only to H2. Personally, I think H3 is trash.
No no ONI i
Mean the cut the rng part out of it where you stick to one tier of the packs until you get points rinse and repeat for the other tries and you get everything cutting the rng out completely
Well, it definitely wasn’t ALL bad in Halo 4 and 5.
And at some point I wish they would have build up on that instead of kinda resetting everything again.
This also doesn’t mean that there are NO improvements in Infinite. But especially when it comes to customization and XP Progress, I really wonder what went wrong.
Slowing down/reducing the core-gameplay seems like an improvement in Infinite.
I loved the H5 MP since it got released. I didn’t like the customization. Only a helmet, visor and armor. Ugh.
I haven’t seen people compare it to the classics (yet), but most who I have spoken to about it liked the multiplayer side of the game. It was just the campaign that let the game down.
Are you joking? This is literally the only post I saw where H5 and love are mentioned in the same line. Nobody likes 5, and regardless of how bad Infinite system is, the hate for 5 didn’t change. Don’t have any ideea where you saw this…love for it.
trust me keep looking you’ll know it when you find it
I would say selling us the same red color two different times is pretty scummy, scarlet wake in one bundle, scarlet skies in another.
And don’t get me started on how players are locked out of across core customization. The bots have it but not us.
At least in Halo 5 you can mix and match the helmet and armor lol
Both were predatory, just in different ways. Halo 5 was predatory due to the random nature of lootboxes which made buying one a total gamble, Infinite’s monetization is predatory due to the cost of cosmetic bundles in the store ($5-20 per pack, with the total cost of all season 1 cosmetics being more than the cost of buying enough lootboxes to unlock all Halo 5 cosmetics), the limited time nature of store cosmetics, the fact that many colors and armor pieces only work on a single weapon or a single armor core, and the lack of ability to earn credits in game (you could earn credits in-game to buy lootboxes with in Halo 5).
I would say selling us the same red color two different times is pretty scummy, scarlet wake in one bundle, scarlet skies in another.
Scummy? Yes. Predatory? No. It’s stupid, but not predatory.

Scummy? Yes. Predatory? No.
Most people still hate Halo 5 here. There are like a hand full of people that say it was a good Halo here.
I think 5 was a fine game, just a bad Halo game.
It was always loved. Gotta separate the silliness of the herd mentality.
People literally hated the campaign so much they rejected the whole game.
People literally didn’t want to play as the other person at all for reasons I won’t mention due to probably being banned as we aren’t allowed to discuss things that deeply related to humanity’s issues.
The community didn’t even want sprint at the time.
People had zero complaints other than…It plays like COD BS or it doesn’t feel like Halo…which neither made it a bad game.
The gameplay itself was incredible though.
If you ask people they can not tell you anything other than this…because the gameplay itself was that good.
ahahaha I was typing this reason.
No offense and I only used yours because it was there right after I posted mine.
here it is again…only justification people have.
This is meant more for the OP to see and not to single out YOUR comment…just using it…hope you dont mind.
I’m not saying it’s predatory I said it was scummy. But that’s to me is on the same level as predatory, like being scummy is not a good look.
This game was designed to be their revolving cash door. And it’s kinda just backfirong
