To me, it seems like people that have enjoyed being on top when the BR was the best weapon for most scenarios are just upset that the AR isn’t useless for once and they don’t want anyone being able to challenge them.
I love where the AR is right now, and I know that some of the last few friends I have that will play Halo with me finally have a leg to stand on in this game fresh from spawn without being destroyed outright.
I agree. The ar is great and it isn’t even that good. Br still trumps it in most situations and the trend seems to come from the ease of use of the ar not its effectiveness.
Once you get used to the rest of the sandbox it becomes less aanted
No, the issue is that the battle rifle requires good shot placement and pacing. The AR can just be spammed and beats out what you’d consider precision weaponry at distance when that shouldn’t be it’s role.
The AR is literally perfect as is and it is actually useful in MP, unlike virtually all past Halos. The AR requires skill to use at any range past point blank because you have to burst fire it or the spray becomes too wide to effectively hit. Its range is totally fine too. You probably won’t kill anyone at longer ranges, but you can certainly suppress WHICH IS A GOOD THING. Nerfing it would make it useless again, just like all the Halos before, and honestly would kind of ruin the MP for me. I love that the AR is actually useful now.
Here’s the thing, The AR has always been a Low skill gap, low damage, low range spray and pray weapon. You could beat people up close with it in previous games so long as the other person missed some shots here and there & it had its own niche spot up until Halo 5. Halo 5’s AR was pretty damn good and the headshot multiplier made it that much better, Now in Infinite you have an AR that still low skill gap, BUT high damage, medium range & has the headshot multiplier similar to Halo 5’s AR. So in a nut shell its good but a little too good and should at the very least have some range and damage reduced, on the flipside the BR has an absurd amount of range and should probably have that tuned down too.
I am not stating this from a place of bias but from long term experience playing Halo games
The overwhelming majority of people who are saying that the AR is oVeRpOwErEd are the same people who constantly lose close and mid-range fights against the AR (especially against those skilled with it) because they miss half their bursts with the BR, then they proceed to -Yoink!- that the AR is overpowered… The AR is absolutely fantastic the way it is. Nerfing it would be an absolutely stupid move on 343’s part.
