So why nerf the ar when it’s finally useable?

Halo is all about headshots but please turn off headshots on this gun and remove it’s ability to be precise. Okay. Sure yea, that’s consistent logic. I can’t find any holes with it at all.

I think the AR has finally reached the sweet spot for it’s intended design. Laying down suppressive fire to keep scoped enemies suppressed\forcing them to hip fire is a legit function of an automatic weapon. I think it would be unintuitive if SOME weapons caused descope and others didn’t. I’m almost certain that the way it works now is the descope mechanism isn’t based on what weapon is causing the damage but rather what weapon IS scoped.

The AR excels at close to “about” mid range, but the BR still has the advantage at mid to long ranges. I think the balance is finally perfect. At mid range, it all comes down to player skill in an AR v BR scenario.

I agree completely with you about damage and range being fine.

If you’re not both standing out in the open, running straight toward each other, I really don’t see how the AR beats the BR at range. Any amount of intelligent use of cover or positioning will beat the AR.

This seems like the Bastion problem in Overwatch. Where the lowest ranked players all complained that Bastion was OP, but Bastion was pretty much a useless character outside of the lowest rank, because people learned how not to run straight into hails of bullets.

I love the AR in this game, it’s a reliable weapon. The fact is that each weapon has an advantage over the others in certain situations. The BR beats the AR in mid or long range combat, but the AR beats the BR in close quarters (unless that person with the BR is just dope!) It makes sense.

The issue is that some weapons already can’t be descoped. The pistol for example. So imo there’s no issues with consistency if the AR couldn’t do it to enemies.

The ability to suppress enemies at long ranges makes it a bit too versatile, and that should be the commandos role. There are a few maps where you can pepper people with the AR from any point. Being able to descope from anywhere on the map is something previous games never had, and its a soft nerf to scoped weapons.

Don’t nerf anything anymore

I like the AR right now. It does what it’s supposed to. Works well in all situation but isn’t perfect for any situation.

Damage falloff at range. That’s all this weapon needs. If it can’t do reasonable damage at extended range, then the ranged weapons it currently overshadows are now more effective against it.

The thing is, infinite’s weapon balance is almost perfect, every weapon has its own niche and role and they perform better than kther weapons in that role. The ar is not better than the Br at mid to long range while the Ar is better than the Br at close range.

The sidekick can do better than the AR at close range but only if you are a good shot.

The sniper is very hard to use at close range

Shotgun slaps in close range but is beaten by thw sword.

The weapon balance in this game is SOOOOOO good I don’t understand the reasoning behind nerfing everything that makes it amazing. Some weapons need buffs like the Ravager or Plasma Pistol but nothing needs to be nerfed. Nothing does.

The people calling for weapon nerfs are quite infiriating and don’t seem to care about the quality and reasoning behind what they are calling for.

Quit trying tk ruin an amazing game!

AGREED one thousand percent !

People with muggy aim complaining that they can’t solo the match with a BR.

Says before I says again:

AR can absolutely not beat BR at the latter’s optimum range.

What you guys think is the BR’s ‘prime range’ is not. You are too close.

The BR works best at what I like to call “Mid-Long”. It is shockingly effective at a longer range than everybody thinks.

The AR can’t beat BR at the correct range not by a literal long shot.

It’s bewilderment that for a forum with so many BR enthusiasts that I keep seeing “AR shouldn’t beat BR” like dude.

At the range I’m talking about; I will hip-fire a BR vs an ADS AR and I put money down I’ll 10/10 that encounter.

If it was the only gun in the game it would be perfectly balanced.

Real talk I don’t want to touch anything. Or at least maybe some love for Ravager and lower recoil climb on Beam.

It’s sobering to know they absolutely will do some kind of sandbox patch, and it can only go downhill from here. And worse, if they do like Bungie with ‘pick rate balance’. “Oh the Shock Rifle is not getting enough love so now it summons Thor” or something.

In two years we’re going to say ‘Vanilla Infinite was the best balance, I miss those days’.

I love the AR in Infinite. I can understand why people want it nerfed, but I don’t.

Where can i see the patch notes?

I’d be curious to know if those that want the AR nerf were around for the Halo 5 Weapon Tuning update - or if they’re comparing Halo Infinite’s sandbox to something like Halo 3 and are expecting the sandbox to be more reflective of that game rather than the current trend of where 343i were taking the sandbox.

It needs distance reduction. That’s the issue. People are using it like it’s a DMR.

I see. I agree with you about the commandos role here 100%.

I still think, from a consistency standpoint it still would be odd if the type of weapon determined what it could descope (meaning, if you are scoped with a sniper, would it be weird to get descoped from a plasma pistol but NOT from a mangler?). Keeping it as “Can this weapon be descoped? Yes or no.” allows for less complexity from a design standpoint.

“Being able to descope from anywhere on the map is something previous games never had” - I’m not sure I agree with this because I think it really depends on the map design, right? In a small map like Chillout, you most likely wouldn’t even NEED to scope in as it would be close enough quarters to simply hip fire the entire time, thus descoping would be a rare occurrence. However in Blood Gulch or Valhalla scoping would be very common.

Just my 2 cents on the matter though.

wait wat they nerfed it ? when ?!
