As someone who has reached Onyx in Arena and Slayer, it is now impossible for me to search these playlists without a full team to communicate with. I’d still like to play these settings in a non-ranked environment when my teammates aren’t present without being forced to play against a full team of onyx/champions with communication.
For the majority of players that will inevitably tell me to “get good”, at around Onyx tier the game is more focused on teamwork as a 1v1 encounter becomes very rare.
Although I feel this game is doing well at bridging the gap between “casual” and competitive players, A permanent unranked playlist that has all of the settings of Arena would be greatly appreciated and would be fantastic for players of lower abilities to learn the game types without an intimidating setting, and for players of higher abilities to be able to search the standard game types we know and love without needing a full team with communication to achieve this.
I emphasise the term “unranked” as I know that these other unranked playlists use a hidden ranking system.
I see your point, but think about it from a gold rank player’s view. Why would I want to play a truly unranked social slayer? I know it’s going to be full of guys at your level and I’ll get crushed. For a lower level player ranked is better. At least I have a chance at playing against people with similar skill. There is a large pool of players below your skill level for you to feed on. Not so much for me.

It’s for everyone. I want a 4v4 social so I can practice without risking a rank, so I can take my team in and work out kinks or try out tactics, so I can take low-level friends in without repercussions, so I don’t have to sweat if I don’t want to. And as OP stated, unranked really just means hidden MMR, so after a few matches they won’t be playing against goldies often. Social is also a much more fitting place to test out map/gametype changes initially before sending them off to the arena.
After trying to casually play some games with my brother who is a Gold 1 whilst I am an Onyx is simply not an enjoyable time for him. We end up with me having easier games at the expense of my brother who ends up going 0-7 and quitting resulting in me finishing the game 50-49.
Times like this is exactly when a social playlist with all the standard game types and maps would be preferable.
When I first got the game I was a bit in shock there wasnt one and I was equally shocked that there is no split screen? Sometimes you have buddies over who just want to chill and play a few games, cannot do that anymore!
Is BTB no longer considered social or what? That’s what I play whenever I just wanna relax a bit. Don’t generally care if I lose. Plus more people to kill.
There’s no excuse for the lack of social slayer being permanent. Ranked is entirely too cluttered as it is; I’d argue that the only things that need to be ranked are Arena and FFA (with different settings). Everything else should be truly social.
