So why is there a gravity hammer in campaign?

I mean fiction wise…

Does anyone have a canon explanation for the room with all of the UNSC weapons and the gravity hammer? I can understand having a cache of Promethean weapons there in the Didact’s ship, but I’m scratching my head over the UNSC arsenal and the grav hammer.

Any ideas?

Don’t you find it in a sort of weapons display?

Maybe that is exactly what it is. A display. Possibly put together by the Covenant in an attempt to please the Didact in some small way. They do worship him after all. They’ll want to please him.

I don’t find it too farfetched that Didact might collect things from his servant races. Maybe out of curiosity or to amuse himself.

For all you know Didact plays a MEAN offensive Grifball. He looks like he has the build for it.

Maybe over the multiple conflicts, the Prometheans some how got their hands on enemy weapons for study. Forerunner technology is known for studying or “scanning” other alien technology. Maybe they’ve somehow made contact with Brute technology.

Perhaps from an Elite’s trophy room (from the covenant fleet at Requiem), or a data transfer from the Ark. The room is quite apparently a study of different weapons and I was more impressed that 343 was able to plausibly include the hammer than confused.

I was thinking about the possibility of research as well, but were there any other Covie weapons in there, or wasn’t it just the gravity hammer? Plus, none of the fanatical covenant in this game were Brutes and the Didact has been in his Cryptum for a long time. Is the gravity hammer that ancient?

I suppose I could accept the plausibility of a data transfer from the Ark or a trophy room, but then again I would ask why did they limit themselves to only the hammer? Why not the other brute weapons as well?

(As a side note: How cool would it have been to have to have all UNSC, Covie, Promethean, and Brute weapons at your fingertips and for the choosing upon entering that room??)

There where Needlers and Carbines in there too. Along with Human weaponry.

That would be a pretty cool turn to play the gravity hammer as pushing 100,000+ years of use. But no I think it’s probably pilfered tech by the elites who handed it over to the Didact as an offering. Or the great -Yoink- just pulled it from the wreckage of a decorated cruiser, seeing something unusual in his new minions to study. Either way it doesn’t really matter, it’s there and it leads to smashing!

I’d buy that.

I was just curious to see if there was some special canon reason that I wasn’t in on…
