Living a few blocks away from my local gamestop, I’ve been stopping by the last couple days and chatting up the clerks, trying to find out if one of them was “cool” enough to sell me Halo 4 early. Did not work…guess it’s the midnight launch for me.
Has anyone tried this and succeeded? Did you do it at an independent retailer? Would there be legal repercussions to anyone who gets caught trying to buy a game early?
No, there are no repercussions if you convince a store to sell it to you early. They are still selling it to you thus you have obtained the copy legally in that scenario.
However, leaked copies are a different ballgame. You will get banned by playing a leaked copy or a copy that’s sent for review.
Bottom line is if you bought the game through an official retailer you will not be banned for playing it early.
