Anyone have any guesses as to who the second spartan will be in co-op when it releases? Will it be like Halo CE and just be a duplicate Chief or someone else entirely?
If it is another Spartan, who could it possibly be? Will it have an impact on the story? Will they be added to cutscenes somehow?
Just something I got to thinking about… Thoughts?

I feel like it will be our multiplayer spartan.

Probably just a Chief clone. There aren’t really any other characters to represent other players, and if 343 arbitrarily decide to use MP characters I’d imagine many players will be irritated their main character isn’t personal.

I doubt they are going to introduce cooperative game play. It was probably just a ruse to calm us all down.
Locke :^)
I kid I kid, don’t kill me guys.
I am curious as to what his -Yoink!- and the rest of his fireteam are up to post Halo 5 leading into Infinite. I haven’t really seen much material about them.
I doubt he’s dead or anything. Halo 5 hyped him up too much to let him just die off screen.
But at the end of the day, I think Locke and Vale should retire from being Spartans.
Locke is an Intelligence Officer ffs and you let him run around in the field. Even if he’s supposedly an Asset Acquisitions meant to be in the field, he’s too important to be the one doing all the dirty work himself.
Vale is more or less a diplomat and foreign relations with the Sangheli, another important position, and you let her run around in the field like that.
List of Options Ranging from bog standard done before options to ridiculous coop modes that will never happen if they are even possible.
Option 1: Duplicate Chief, Story just ignores player 2 for cutscenes.
Option 2: Secondary Character, Ranges from Arbiter, Jerome, random surviving spartan, random friendly elite.
Option 3: Player 2 is Multiplayer spartan, cutscenes play out like option 1.
Option 4: Player 2 is a ODST with shields and a grapple, gameplay-wise a Falcon to Chiefs Captain America, He does everything Chief does just slower. An option for the Halo Vet wanting a higher difficulty setting while playing alongside the Halo newcomer.
This is where the serious suggestions end and we go into the silly player 2 options that would be utterly ridiculous and will never happen.
Option 5: Player 2 can control any nearby marine, if they die they get control of the next nearest marine. Unless they spawn random marines into the linear levels (The Road being the only linear level that has marines in it to my knowledge) this is an option only good in the open world.
Option 6: Player 2 is no longer Cooperative and now can choose to control any Elite or Brute that is aware of the player and becomes the biggest thorn in a Spartan’s side since Emile got stabbed.
Option 7: Player 2 gets to play Halo wars against the Master Chief and choose what enemies are sent after him to end his stoic rampage of reasonable concern about the giant Hula hoop.

It will be a duplicate chief I’m 100% sure of it
Player 2 will be a Grunt, hopefully the Grunt that does the Propaganda messages that you destroy through out campaign…

Noble 6, Locke, and arbiter
Noble 6 is dead.
Locke and Arbiter are up there but they aren’t introduced yet, so it could cause serious story continuity issues if you want to replay our current story arc with co op.
I think safest is probably Chief Clone.
Chief Clone has been a thing since Halo’s inception, and he’s just missing in most major cutscenes.
