So, who can't get Halo 4 when it comes out?

So, we all know Halo 4 comes out on Tuesday. Everyone is excited to get it.

But lets not forget those who can’t get the game when it comes out. Those who will have to wait until much later. Those who will be stuck here waiting and having to listen/watch everyone playing the game.

I have to count myself among that unlucky group. I don’t have the cash to straight up buy the game, and I’d have to trade in on the order of 7-8 games (most of which I still like) in order to be able to get enough credit to get the game.

And I won’t have cash until the end of the month when I get paid, which means I’ll be DOUBLY screwed by the fact that I will have no access to any worthwhile specializations until 343i deems me worthy of having access to them, just because I can’t run out and get the game when it comes out (or heaven forbid, want to see more reviews from more trustworthy sources).

Although I do hope people who get it on release day enjoy it - the rest of us will be here. (Though if you’re an American inside the US, you get yourself to the polls and vote before you even think about opening the packaging)

You really couldn’t save up $60 since the time the release date was announced?

How can one have so little money?

> You really couldn’t save up $60 since the time the release date was announced?

Being unemployed for 5.5 months will do that to you.

I’m in that group. I could buy it a launch, but I’ve been planning my budget for several months leading up to Christmas. I would rather have a bad -Yoink- Christmas with a lot of stuff, than buy Halo 4 now and not be able to afford as much stuff for Christmas.

Well depending on the titles you have, and if you are a PRO member or not you could take care of the game without trading in all of your games.

You get a 30% increase on every game you trade towards Halo 4, and if you have a PRO card, you’ll get an additional 10% or ask a buddy who has one to use theirs.

An extra controller laying around? Worth around 20 bucks in store credit.

Just trying to help.

Assuming you are in America, of course…

My best friend couldn’t get it because he was going to put all $60 on it this week, but he had bills to pay… and Black Ops 2 to preorder…

This is the first Halo release that I didn’t panic because I was broke and sell something at the last second to afford it. So I know how you feel. Thank god this time I preordered it months ago when I had some extra cash.

I’ve been unemployed for 1.5 years after +100 applicants, and this past summer got a job. It isn’t enough to live out on my own, but enough to save for Halo 4 and then some since I just continued to save.

You should do what I did, find a local gamestop and trade in some games. I traded in MW2, MW3, and Black Ops, and was able to pre-order Halo 4 & Black Ops 2 full for $85, thats nearly $42.50 for each one.

Even if you don’t get BO, trading in some games will help bring the cost down (either a few recent titles or a lot of old titles).

I was planning on going to the midnight release, but then I realized I had two exams that day :frowning:

I tried. I don’t have a lot of games left that I’m willing to trade in that worth anything.

In order of most to least valuable:

Naruto - Ultimate Ninja Storm: Generations - $15
Halo: Reach - $15 (If they’ll take it. The case freaking wrecked the inner plastic and cracked the disc a bit)
Halo CE: Anniversary $15
Ghost Recon: Future Soldier - $10
Batman: Arkham City - $8
Mass Effect 3 - $8
Gears of War 3 - $5
Everything else $4=>
Halo 2-3-ODST
Super Street Fighter IV
Record Agarest War Zero / 1
Mass Effect 2

Games I Won’t Trade-In:
DEX: Human Revolution
FFXII-2
Dead or Alive 5
Bayonetta
Record Agarest War Zero / 1
Dark Souls

Some of those I still play regularly (Future Soldier, Gears 3)…and I still find it hard to justify trading 5+games to get one game. And I don’t have any accessories to trade in either - all I have are my Razer Onza, my black wireless controller and my almost unkillable original wired controller from the launch of the 360.

Knowing Gamestop, now is too late to pre-order it anyway. They’re notorious for taking more pre-orders than they can fill, particularly this close to launch.

I will not be able to get it until the 16th because thats when my Thanksgiving break is. Any suggestions on how to cope with this reality are appreciated

Just remember that its only a video game and you’re fortunate to have a house to play it in?

Oh, I’m buying it right away, but I’m not going to get to play officially until that weekend (the 9th). Those four days are going to be a -Yoink-.

I could’ve bought it at midnight release from Future Shop, a retailer in Canada but I found an online coupon to use for $20 off so I took that instead. The only problem is, I might have to wait anywhere from 1 - 7 days before I get it.

I’m now starting to think saving that $20 wasn’t really worth it. lol

this is why i offered to work every holiday this year.
time&a half= awesome christmas.

that sucks man. Im in college and money is tight but i saved up for black ops 2 and halo 4. Theres no way im NOT getting a game that i want really bad on release day or before release day.

Living in a country that doesn’t have Xbox live support and isn’t really affording to have a xbox in every house,i have to wait 1-2 weeks until i get it from Ebay.I have loads of pacience so it’s no problem, but man do i feel jealos of seeing folks playing halo 4 .I mean i already am jealous seeing some of my friends playing it already(checked 5 min,my friend is still playing Halo 4,-Yoink-!)

I’m only 16,have LOADS of money saved but i only spend em on Halo stuff, hard to believe it i know
