So I managed to finally finish the campaign on legendary I go to check out the helm that should now be open to me and nada… It’s not there. I check my service record and it says I only completed three missions so far not eight… Yeah I was off line at the time where I did most of it but why should that matter? I am not that interested in the helmet tbh I’d just prefer that my service record say I completed the game.

The commendations only count when you are playing online.
Your service record is only able to record what you do online.
In order to get the helmet, you have to get the commendations. (Being online.)
You will have to go play the missions that it says you have not completed again.
You are allowed to do it co-op. If you want to run through them, co-op can make it go faster.

Yeah, it’s quite obnoxious when concerns for legitimacy of rewards wind up overriding practical functionality. Especially when the concern is as absurdly meaningless as “oh, someone will fake having completed a Halo campaign on legendary,” as if that’s some sort of high praise reserved for only the proven mightiest of players.
I would be glad if the achievement system, and 99% of progression systems in general, were to simply disappear one day. But they sell, despite the damage they cause to the industry’s products.

I don’t see how that makes any sense… well for co-op it does but not solo play.

Ok, so I play from rally point alpha to rally point charlie on forerunner, I get off for the night, I come back the next day and finish the mission, check, doesn’t count.
That’s what I mean, sorry for the lack of clarity.
