Don’t really think this is a spoiler, but it never really says how Chief got into a whole new set of armor. Cortana says in the first level that she upgraded his firmware, but not that she undressed and changed him.
The grafics require it to be different but relay the armor is the same one it just a much high rez version of the armor.
A story which makes no sense + 343 thought it would look cool.

One, it’s “graphics”, not “grafics”. 2, that’s completely wrong on both counts. The exact same armour design could have been used and still utilised the graphics engine to the same extent. Also, it is not the same at all, it is vastly different from the original armour design.

If they felt like remaking the original Mk VI armor, then they would have. And guess what, they actually did remake that too.

Pretty much. Frankie was the one who first mentioned it. At first I refused to believe it, and thought it was just artistic license… until I saw his interview a loooong time back.
Oh well. I agree it’s a bit shoehorned in, but it’s not a horribly bad explanation compared to their attempts at getting Halo: Reach’s story to fit with the events in The Fall of Reach (ie. convoluted and full of plot holes).

No it’s not, Mark VI or V maybe has been retconned into what we have now, in the prologue video we see alot of Spartan-II’s all wearing the new armour.
Basically forget the old look it never happened.
