He does have a point though.
They hid a release behind it being a “beta”, which in the end means all the crashes, instability, desync, etc. becomes “acceptable”, because it’s a beta. And then it just carries over to the public release naturally.

I also don’t recall anyone using the “beta” argument to state or imply everything would by fixed by retail.

I don’t think 343 made any attempts to “hide behind the beta”. They made it quite clear from the beginning that it was the full release of multiplayer. I think it was done mainly for legal reasons (however, I’m no lawyer).
Anyone using the Beta excuse on the forums either didn’t read the blog or was being blinded by hope.

Not sure, but I imagine there are contracts all over the place (like with marketing partners) with the game’s release date on them. So they just slapped “beta” on it to try and avoid alleged breaches.

Outside of trying to call out ambiguous individuals, this post has no purpose. 343 was very clear that additional modes will come later this month, but not at launch.
