There is a data center here in Washington state. I live about two hours from it. There is also two in California, and I think one in Utah.
Seems fine to me. I play every day without issue on an Xbox One.
In that case, must be nice to live on the West Coast.
Microsoft Azure has 3 East Coast servers, but all 3 are in Virginia, and one of them is a Government exclusive server for Washington DC. They need one in New York and Florida to really even out the East Coast better for everyone. Having one in New York would help all the small states in the top right of the US, and one in Florida would help Puerto Rico, Cuba, Jamaica, and all those Bahamas areas too.
Bring the DMR back, I would die to see that weapon back.
Me too.
I love Halo. Played it since the beginning.
Actually been playing through all the old games coop with my son, having a great enjoyable time.
This game though…Halo has been destroyed. Live service, free to play monetized garbage, not to mention the gameplay issues, but this is the problem with gaming in general also. This live service crap.
I think I’m over it. Even my son has minimal interest in Infinite.
The problem is if this game isn’t dead, I’m hoping it does die. This model for Halo should never have been released.
Right now. It’s dead right now. 99% of the playerbase is gone. They should legit scrap it and relaunch when they actually have content and finish the game like the guy somewhere above said. Even with new maps or whatever it won’t be enough to “save” the game…the gameplay in infinite just doesn’t feel nearly as tight as the titles in MCC plus the botched playlists/desync/monetization/UI/half-finished empty open world/“10 year plan”/no server browser/broken mmr/cheaters/plethora of other issues. I can have more fun playing Halo:CE than this dumpster fire.
Yeah I think it’s part of getting old haha.
I feel like games have become so hell bent on being time consuming. But as you get older you have less time to play the games. But then they try to monetize the shortcuts so you don’t have to actually do the chore that is playing the game.
I’m hoping that the market gets over saturated with this live service mediocre time consuming games and that the market shifts back to games that don’t require you to sink 100+ hours into it.
I haven’t finished a whole bunch of games like Witcher 3, valhalla and red dead 2. Not because they aren’t good games but simply because they have so much “fillers” in the game. Yet you look at the online popular opinions and people are demanding that games be more “immersive” and that they should make it so that you have to brush your teeth in it and on top of that we should be able to customize the tooth brush.
I miss the days where games were <10 hours of gameplay but were exciting and engaging the whole way through. But unfortunately the linear games are leaving mainstream interest.
Too true!
It’s a shame.
I’m Perth Australia here.
Best ping we get on the only Australian server is 50-54ms.
However, now we need to “ping” a US server to search for a match and are put into matches on those servers if/ when available.
I believe they said this was done to prevent people geo filtering, However one could also assume it’s been done to make sure the US servers are prioritized over the rest of the world. To make sure the Local US servers have the player population maintained over other regions.
So yeah; we are stuck with the 180-244ms ping ball park so the Americans can now stat on us.
And its not that fun.
I find matches pretty quick. Then again, it’s been about a month since I’ve played.
There is seven or eight servers total in the US. Two or three on the West Coast. Two in the Midwest, Two on the East Coast and One in Texas.
If you live in the North East Coast though connecting to the Midwest Servers would be like me connecting to the Southern California server. You should still get 25-35 ping.
Unfortunately, nope,
https://www.azurespeed.com/Azure/Latency
I tested every server in the US, and best I get is 70-150, but spikes as high as 400-500 on the opposite side of the US. 70-90 is average for me in Halo Infinite. I get 40-60 in most other games I play, even some Chinese game like Genshin gets much lower ping than Halo Infinite. My personal ping ranges 15-35 depending on the Speedtest server results. Azure servers are just like that. I don’t have this issue in any other games or past Halo games. Halo Infinite is genuinely the only game just absolutely blasted with lag and desync. I never notice any lag or desync in Destiny 2. I can’t remember any issues in Halo 4 or 5 either, which is strange, because Halo 4 and 5 did use Azure. I think Halo Infinite is just horribly optimized. I get heavy lag spikes in just the 100s of ping. I feel bad for people in New Zealand with 350ms+
Dang that’s unfortunate. I get 22ms to the Washington server, 35ms to California and 45ms to the Arizona one. (So Arizona not Utah)
I…
That’s not what people are angry about.
Ultimately people don’t actually care that they can see parts of themselves in first person.
Being able to see your bright purple arm plate is literally just a point of polish for the game,
Being able to see your custom spartans body flop over and die for the 3 seconds the death animations play is all just visual polish.
What people are mad about is WHY the color system was destroyed.
The marketing was selling the idea that “it would give the players 10’s of Thousands of ways to express themselves”.
This was a massive lie from 343i.
It was ripped apart, and repackaged as WAY over priced micro-transactions.
They chose THE 10 WORST of the 30 color options the old games gave you as free defaults.
THE WORST 10.
We can’t even make RvB Machinima with the free color options they gave us.
People are mad at it because:
-The Freedom to express yourself was removed from the experience.
-What parts were gutted with replaced with Over priced microtransactions.
343i went THE LAZIEST possible road, for pure profit.
Their goal was not a fun experience, it was to extract as much money as possible from people.
When i think dead game i think Anthem…A game that lost so much of its player base and was disliked so much that they literally stopped trying to fix it or make new content. Whats dead?..think Anthem lol.
I haven’t played it for a couple weeks now, I think.
With H5, the gameplay loop of grinding for credits to buy those (random) customisation packs was addictive. There was always something to unlock.
With Infinite, I’ve done the Battle Pass, so there’s nothing left for me to get (unless I pay extra)
Don’t get me wrong, I’ve always enjoyed the base gameplay of the Halo games I’ve had, but when I have a backlog of other games to play (incidentally, from MS’ own Game Pass catalogue
), I’ve less incentive to keep playing Halo.
I absolutely agree 100%eith this. Halo 2 was probably the most fun I’ve ever had in any multiplayer game ever. Other than the map pack disc they released, we never seen or expected any more content and this took away absolutely ZERO from the fun we had… The gaming scene has changed so much over the years, it’s crazy. I’ve been reading through all of these comments here and almost all of them are negative. DUDES, the game is actually fun again! It’s so reminiscent of 2 and 3 yet so new at the same time, it’s freaking glorious! I personally have been sad since Halo 3 because I haven’t had fun with the multiplayer since then, and honestly felt like those days were dead. Like I said, this was tough given that Halo 2 was so much fun and left such an impression on me. Infinite - to me - is like an old kid’s dream come true because I feel that same sense of fun and joy that I used to have, that I thought was gone forever. For that, I am SO glad for this game and what it is. It’s not perfect no, but it’s a heck of a lot better than 5 ever was and I love it. Geez, can’t we at least be a little bit grateful that we have such a fun game with (pardon the pun) infinite potential instead of crying about it’s downfalls?
If they do not do anything to fix any of the following problems in Season 2:
Then Infinite is well and truly dead.
So far, they have defended their garbage netcode, their anti-cheat, and their garbage implementation of skill based matchmaking. It looks like they are on a path to permanently burying their game under those awful game systems.
Haha thats the kicker, YOURE ALREADY THERE
